*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE* Delegate Scott Surovell was proud to accept the endorsement of the Northern Virginia Technology Council TechPAC, the political action committee of the Northern Virginia technology community. NVTC TechPAC made the endorsement last week, after a decision by the 23-member TechPAC Board of Trustees. Surovell, accepting the endorsement, noted that he had introduced several pieces of legislation designed to integrate technology into government. One of my personal priorities as a legislator has been using technology to streamline governmental processes, said Surovell. Whether it is electronic summonses or allowing digital court reporting, I believe that technology can save taxpayers money and make life easier. Over the past two years Surovell has introduced or cosponsored technology related legislation: Allowing electronic filing of civil and criminal actions in circuit courts. Allowing local implementation of electronic court summons systems. Allowing localities to implement electronic court recording. Leveling the playing field for Virginia businesses by requiring foreign corporations to register before bidding on Virginia procurements. Normalizing regulation of computer forensics and security businesses. Promoting development of Virginias alternative energy industry. Incentivizing green high tech manufacturing. Restoring Free File for Virginia income tax filing. Surovell went on to note his role on the Committee for Science and Technology and the emerging role that the technology industry plays in the Commonwealth. In 2007, semiconductors replaced tobacco as Virginias top export, Surovell pointed out. Every year we see more and more high tech businesses starting in the Commonwealth- we need to make sure we are encouraging that growth. Dendy Young, chairman of NVTC TechPAC spoke highly of Surovells work on technology issues. The Northern Virginia Technology Council TechPAC is pleased to endorse Scotts re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates, said Young. He has been an advocate for issues of importance to Northern Virginia's technology community and we look forward to working with him to build a better technology future.
