Year 2000

This product is Year 2000 ready. When used in

accordance with its associated documentation, it is
capable of correctly processing, providing, and/or
receiving date data within and between the twentieth and
twenty-first centuries, provided that all products (for
example, hardware, software, and firmware) used with the
product properly exchange accurate date data with it.
The service end date for this Year-2000-ready product is
January 31, 2002.

Product Positioning
CICS Universal Clients Version 3.1 provides the basis for
IBM′s very successful Application Mining initiative. It
enables significant value to be brought to new desktop
applications by tapping the hidden assets existing in your
core enterprise applications.
It provides an easy and low-cost mechanism to enable
access to CICS applications for users at desktop
workstations. It can be used with CICS servers on all
platforms.
CICS Universal Clients provides support for a single user
at a desktop workstation. Where multiple users are
required, and in particular for access by multiple users
at Web browsers, the CICS Transaction Gateway
Version 3.1 should be used.
CICS Universal Clients Version 3.1 is the latest IBM
product for accessing CICS from desktop environments,
and should be used by those who are new to CICS Clients.
If you are already using CICS Clients Version 2.0 you may
prefer to use CICS Clients Version 2.0.8 while continuing
to roll out an existing installation. Migration to CICS
Universal Clients Version 3.1 is recommended in the
longer term.
The CICS Transaction Gateway is the latest IBM product
supporting e-business configurations with CICS. It
replaces and extends the functions previously provided
by the CICS Internet Gateway and the CICS Gateway for
Java
Customers using the CICS Internet Gateway or the CICS
Gateway for Java, which are not supported by CICS
Universal Clients Version 3.1, should continue to use
CICS Clients Version 2.0, but should consider migrating
to the CICS Transaction Gateway Version 3.1 at the
earliest opportunity.

Statement of Direction
Support for the HP-UX 11 environment will be made
available at a future date.
