Capacity planning determines how VMs will be distributed across physical servers for best performance and ease of management We should address the following questions: How many servers do we have? Which roles do they serve: Application,database,web etc? How many servers do we need? How many users do we serve? Are we experiencing issues with the current servers? Do we need to streamline any processes? Which sever utilization trends do we obseve? What percentage of our resources are underutilized and for how long, on average? Which usage patterns would be prefed to see? How much of our exsiting infrastructure can we virtualize?
