Ph 103 G, H, L, and U: Pilosopiya ng Relihiyon/ Philosophy of Religion Sem 1 SY 2011-2012 Long Test # 2 (take-home group written examination) Over-all Instruction: What we want here is an honest-to-goodness dialogue among intelligent students of philosophy on the topic of the Problem of Evil [PoE]. Introduce and explain the PoE. Name one of the proposed solutions offered by theists to dismiss the problem of physical evil and argue for its validity. Present a solid counter-argument to it. Do the same for one of the proposed solutions to the problem of moral evil. Undertake an intelligent argument. Use all the philosophical resources the class has provided you. Then give the groups resolution to the PoE.

Specific Instructions (these apply to both English and Filipino sections, MWF and TTh sections): 1. Compose a well-written, organized, comprehensive, accurate essay in the form of a dialogue among several students. We want to see something like the exchange of ideas in a Platonic dialogue or in an intelligently written play. 2. Write your dialogue using the following format: a. Short bond paper (no special stationery please) b. Use only one face of each sheet c. Georgia Font size 11 d. 1 margin on all fours sides of the page e. 1.5 line spacing f. Paginate on the upper-right-hand corner, using the format x [current page] of y [total number of pages] g. Write your full names, class and section, Long Test # 2, and date of submission only on the very last page after the end of your answer essay. h. Staple your sheets on the upper-left-hand corner 3. For sections G and H, use proper English; for sections L and U, use proper Filipino. This means employ the correct grammar, syntax, word choice, spelling and punctuation of the language you are supposed to be using. Any typographical or formatting error shall merit deductions from the over-all grade. 4. You may use up to a maximum of 3500 words. Given the font and font sizes above, this would amount to about 500 words per page. 5. Go direct to the point, make sure your claims are well-argued. Dont just mouth off lines; always back up your claims with evidence and arguments. Always explain and expound. 6. If the quality of all the segments is the same, then the group grade is the individuals grade as well; if the quality varies, then each student will get the necessary grade due the quality of his/her segment. In general: the stronger the argument, the higher the grade. 7. Print your answer essay/dialogue and make sure to put it in my pigeonhole (Dela Costa Building 2/f, to the right of the stairs) by 17:00hrs (5 pm) on 1 October 2011, Saturday. All papers submitted after the deadline or left elsewhere shall be given the grade of F. Go to the next page Flow of the Dialogue:
