Chomps technology powers the most advanced search engine for native and web apps across the worldwide iOS and Android markets. The metrics outlined in this report provide insight into app search trends across iOS and Android using Chomps on-device search functionality within the US during the month of August. Chomp for Android launched on February 28, 2011. Android and iOS metrics included in this edition of App Search Analytics refers to data collected September 1 - 30, but references previous months for trending and comparison purposes. App Monetization
Paid app downloads decreased by 1% on Android and by 5% iOS. On Android, the decreases were concentrated at price points below $3.00. On iOS, the drop was concentrated at the two lowest price points. The $.99 price point decreased from 12.3% to 9.3% and the $1.99 price point decreased from 4.2% to 3.0%.

Best in Category
On Android, Utilities had a huge month; their share of downloads increased from 15.8% to 21.3%. On iOS, games increased their share from 27.7% to 31.5%. Social networking and reference also increased their shares by 2%, while sports, healthcare & tness, and books apps decreased their share by 1%.

Search trafc for the query NFL correlates with the rst game of the season and Sundays. Trafc remains slightly elevated after each of these spikes.

International Search Trends & Top Apps

Newer games Bunny Shooter on Android and Assassins Creed Altairs Chronicles on iOS jump into the top apps for three of the six countries. Australia is one of the top queries in Australia as Aussies search for locally relevant apps.
