Q:

Whats your message to those in the industry not politically involved?

A: There has never been as big a war on free enterprise as were seeing today and the only way for us to survive is to get seriously involved. The President and people around him are threatened by private industry and small businesses; they are deeply suspicious of what motivates us. Instead they are big fans of gigantic international pub lic companies that are more dependent on political favoritism. fts a dangerous game; theyre killing the goose that lays the golden egg because were not dependent on and influenced by them.

Q: Is the war on free enterprise just a political move or really a philosophical decision?
A: Its deeply philosophical. Some really do believe in what theyre doing and thats the scary part because its a means to an end. For the President to talk about increasing taxes on small businesses is just outstanding. The President has some strange philosophy that was reinforced in some academic setting that is fundamentally tiawed. Hes going for broke and I think his re-election chances are nearly doomed. You have to ask the old Reagan question, Are you better off now than you were four years ago? The answer is no.

Q: What is the impact of the Phase 2 Dulles Rail PLA on Virginia soil?
A: Its a disaster if its allowed to happen in its culTent form. It will allow labor unions that represent four percent of Virginia work el-s to collect union dues every time someone pays the loll or metro fair, giving them a seri ous feather in their cap and hundreds of mil lions to be directed towards dues and politics that will damage Virginias political system. Its obscene that were at this point in Vir ginia. The Commonwealth is viewed as such a safe place for free enterprise that theres no sense that the wolf is at the door. Theres an old saying, the Devils greatest trick is mak ing you believe he doesnt exist; now were seeing him manifest in a clear way and then be defended by Representatives from the Commonwealth. It shows what can happen if were not constantly vigilant.

including a new apprenticeship system and a large amount of union representation sitting on every state or local apprenticeship board. In D.C. they are attempting to create a mandatory apprenticeship program to work on any project covered by the D.C. Green Building Act; and counties in Northern Virginia are now consid ering the same thing. The notion of green jobs is simply an attempt to wrap union-only re quirements into the new green towel and make it sound like new jobs are coming. What they will actually do is create a uniononly monop oly in construction because theyve subsidized the training to keep democratic voter pools employed. its a brilliant scam. Green building practices must stand alone.

Q:

How do you rate the new House majority?

A: I briefly lived in North Carolina and found that most people couldnt name their Sena tor or Congressman. lnitially I thought that was strange but then realized thats the way its supposed to be. Were not supposed to be worried about what the federal government is doing at all times. Its a great waste of time and energy that should be directed at private enterprise. I like that Boehner is taking a con servative approach, allowing the House to be the Peoples Flouse again----not dictated by a supreme Speaker. House members can make amendments on the floor and put legislation together in plain sight again. Sometimes those decisions have harmed us, but Ill take the oc casional loss to see the system restored.

Q:

Whos your Republican candidate in 2012?

A: Whoever has the best chance of winning. I dont know that well recognize the country in 2013/2014 if President Obama is reelected. This election is a tipping point in our history. We can slide towards the old Europe avoid ing concerns about spending and allow flee enterprise to evaporate or we can take our last shot at restoring the system. Our unfunded liabilities are around 57 trillion dollars more than the accumulated gross national product of every country on earth. The idea that wed continue wasting time and money is among the most selfish concepts ever contemplated in this country. Were sitting around watching our childrens futures be mortgaged.

What issues do construction busi nesses need to be aware of as the 2012 election approaches?
A: The idea of a green collar job is a major concern because its seductive considering the associated patriotism of building here and get ting offMiddle East oil. But the fact is its sub sidies chasing subsidies. What theyre trying to do is create a new occupationto change the title of calpenter to greencollar capen tee and claim theres a new skill set requirei Changing the occupational title necessitates a lot of new material from the federal level,
