Michael Bennet 458 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 RE: Support of Trout Unlimited (TU) for S. 1635, the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act of 2011 Dear Senators Udall and Bennet: On behalf of the 140,000 members of Trout Unlimited nationwide, including 10,000 members of Colorado Trout Unlimited, we write to express our strong support for the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act (S. 1635), and to thank you for your authorship and support of this legislation. Our members stand shoulder-to-shoulder with thousands of other hunters and anglers from Colorado and across the country who also support the bill. When passed, the measure will safeguard over 60,000 acres of the best fish and wildlife habitat found in Colorado, and with it, countless opportunities for sportsmen and women to hunt, fish and provide sustainable economic benefits to the communities in the region. As you know, the bill is the result of a collaborative effort by local stakeholders who live near and often visit this magnificent part of the San Juan Mountains. These citizens, who now use this area for a wide range of recreational purposes, will continue to enjoy this pristine backcountry and will take great pride in passing their stewardship of this land to future generations. Trout Unlimited commends both of you for your efforts to ensure that this legislation will protect the San Juans clean water, wildlife and fish in perpetuity. Sincerely,

Stephen Kandell Director, TU Sportsmens Conservation Project David Nickum Executive Director, Colorado Trout Unlimited
