Abstract - This paper focuses on the various careeropportunities that are available for the computerstream students in the field of ITES industry .Thispaper analyses the various attributes of the Skill Set of computer stream students, from which a decision treecan be generated to help them to improve theconfidence level of students in selecting a career in ITESindustry. For the past few years it has become a passionfor students to choose computer science as their mainstream for their studies. During the final semester of their graduation they struggle a lot to choose a careerbased on the skill set they posses which is of dueimportance. With the use of Decision tree this paperprovides a guideline to take decision to choose career inITES Industry.

INTRODUCTIONIn this competitive world it is very difficultto secure a job .Students who have chosen computeras their main stream can decide their career based onthe skill set they posses. They are not much awareabout the skills required by the ITES industry.Knowing the skills they possess, we can give them adecision to choose their career. In our day today life, we come acrossvarious decision making problems. Normally wesolve these problems and make decisions out of theexperience which may be incorrect seldom. Thecomputer technology helps us to provide an easy andefficient way of decision making. One such approachis the decision tree ,which is utilized in this paper.Decision tree learning is one of the most successfullearning algorithms, for its various attractive features.Simplicity, comprehensibility, parameter less, andbeing able to handle mixed type data. In decision treelearning, a decision tree is induced from a set of labeled training instances represented by a tuple of attribute values and a class label. Because of the vastsearch space, decision tree learning is typically agreedy,top-down and recursive process starting withthe entire training data and an empty tree. Anattribute that best partitioned into disjoint subsetssatisfying the values of the splitting attribute, for eachsubset, the algorithm proceeds recursively until allinstances in a subset belong to the same class [1].Decision trees are a rapid and effectivemethod of classifying data set entries, and can offergood decision support capabilities. A decision tree isa tree in which each non-leaf node denotes a test onan attribute of cases, each branch corresponds to anoutcome of the test, and each leaf node denotes aclass prediction. The quality of a decision treedepends on both its classification accuracy and itssize.[2] Existing studies have identified severaladvantages to the use of decision trees: no domainknowledge is needed for classification, they are ableto handle high dimensional data, they are intuitiveand generally easy to comprehend, they are simpleand fast, and they have good accuracy[3].
