CATEG0RYGRADECOMMENTSAttendance/Preparation3All members were in attendance and on-time. It has been

roughly a month since the last Board meeting and certain items were tabled do to lack of preparation of the board and administration. Item 7c, Marcon Erectors contract was tabled for next months meeting because of a lack of understanding of Marcon Erectors. The Board had roughly a month to prepare; the meeting lasted roughly 4 and 1/2 hours, and many agenda items were not adequately addressed. Meeting Etiquette3Often throughout the meeting, parents/community members complained that they could not hear what the Board of Education or Superintendent was saying. The sound speakers were either not working, or board members simply did not speak into the microphones. This should be addressed. Parents/community members expressed that they didnt understand certain abbreviations. Members were respectful towards other members , however at times they cut each other off to get their statements in. It is also noted that many irrelevant comments were made.Staying on Task/Participation 2Time was not used efficiently. The meeting lasted 4 and 1/2 hours, and nothing concrete was accomplished. Researchers on hand presented the Board with data that had frequent errors on Early Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) statistics. At certain points it seemed as if there was little control over the proceedings; public speakers often times went over their allotted time. The DPCC (District Parent Coordinating Committee) was not listed on the speakers list or agenda and spoke for over an hour. Executive session was called for over an hour to to discuss the placement of an administrator.Parent/Community Engagement 3During comments from speakers, members as well as the Superintendent left the room while guests addressed the board. Guests have a limit on how long they can speak yet members get up to get drinks and leave the room. The Board should pay attention to those who wish to speak before them. Committee ReportsN/ACommittees have not been assigned yet.Superintendent Accountability 4The Board did a fairly decent job of of engaging the Superintendent about his proposals and requesting information for on-going projects.
