oin the Butler County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, and Celebrate Business at the Annual Chamber Dinner. The evening will recognize the accomplishments of local businesses and highlight the activities of the Chamber, our programs and our volunteers. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Butler Country Club with an hors doeuvres cocktail party, and continues with dinner and presentations. The Chamber is pleased to present the 2010 William A. Morgan Jr. Entrepreneur of the Year Award to John Buckner, Executive Vice President, and Tom Buckner, President and Chief Executive Officer, of Ibis Tek LLC. Ibis Tek LLC was founded in 1999 and is a veteran-owned small business specializing in products and accessories critical to the Defense Industry and other State and Federal Agencies. The Entrepreneaur of Year Award is presented to a local outstanding business owners and is recommended by the Chambers Past Presidents Advisory Council and past award recipients. Past recipients of the William A. Morgan Jr. award include David Lloyd, Richard Musko, William McCarrier, N. Lee Ligo and Matthew Diehl. The Chamber Business Champion Award is presented to an outstanding business or organization that displays vision, ingenuity, commitment and determination and is based on business accomplishments. This year the award will be presented to the Butler Eagle and Butler Health System. The Butler Eagle is a family-owned newspaper, founded in 1903. Butler Health System, founded in

Candidates Debate Scheduled For Monday September 27, 2010


he Legislative Action Committee of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce has joined with the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce and Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau to hold a Candidates Forum on Monday, September 27, 2010, at 6:00 pm. Butler County Community College will host the event at the Succop Theater in the Science, Technology, and Cultural Building on their main campus. Congressional Candidates for District 3 and 4 have been invited to attend as well as the Candidates for U.S. Senator. We are pleased that Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper and challenger Mike Kelly have both confirmed their attendance. The committee is also optimistic that Congressman Joe Sestak and Ex-Congressman Pat Toomey will also join us. Congressman Jason Altmire is unable to participate therefore there will be no debate for District 4. This event will be conducted as a formal debate, and Dr. Michael Coulter, Professor of Political Science at Grove City College, will serve as moderator. Dr. Coulter teaches courses in Parties and Elections, State and Local Government and Public Policy. ARMSTRONG has been actively involved with coordination of the program and will be exclusive for taping and televising. ne of the things we do best here at the Butler County Chamber of Commerce is promote our Members here in Butler County. To do this, you must give us the opportunity and select the specific event that allows maximum exposure. Additionally, we have our newsletter, business resource guide, website and map as avenues to promote your services. September is the time to think about planning and budgeting for the upcoming year and we invite you to consider one of the available options outlined below. As you know from reading this publication, our mailings and advertising and our website, we promote our sponsors in print, via the airwaves prior to, during and after the event. Support Taste Of History At Old Stone House

he Old Stone House invites the Butler County business community to help support quality historical programs. You can help the Butler County landmark by donating food or ingredients for classes and educational programs or by donating other supplies or contributing financially. The non-profit museum is hoping to begin a fundraiser to reconstruct an authentic outdoor summer kitchen at the site. On October 2, 2010, the Old Stone House will host a Sponsor Appreciation Night with authentic historic food and entertainment for those business owners who contributed to the program. utler County Community College invites you to its 15th Annual Golf Outing on Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Butler Country Club. This years event is sponsored by NexTier Bank.

The outing is formatted as a four-person scramble. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. Come to warm-up on the driving range and putting green until 12:45 p.m. The outing begins at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start. Following a fun round of golf will be a reception with hors doeurves and a cash bar at 5:00 p.m. followed by dinner, door prizes and awards at 6:00 p.m. All proceeds for the event go toward the Butler County Community College Education Foundation, Inc. This fund has contributed to the excellence and success of Butler County Community College by providing smart classrooms to the campus and allowing the distribution of scholarships to over 100 students a year. Slippery Rock Rotary And VNA Set Autumn Golf Classic


Written By: Jillian Lagner he Rotary Club of Slippery Rock and the Visiting Nurses Association of Western PA are sponsoring the first Autumn Golf Classic on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the Oakview Golf Club. The Autumn Golf Classic is a four-person team scramble beginning with a Shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. The Golf Classic will feature 18 holes of golf, a cart, box lunch, refreshments and team and skill prizes. The Rotary Club of Slippery Rock and VNA will share the proceeds from the Golf Classic. Slippery Rock Rotary will use its share for local charities to help with PolioPlus, the polio eradication project of Rotary International. VNA will use its portion to help support the new Inpatient Hospice in Butler, PA. The registration deadline is September 20, 2010. Butler Health System Opens Urgent Care Center

he Butler County Chamber of Commerce welcomes Butler Health System as they open their first urgent care center in Butler, BHS FastERcare, located at Butler Commons. The center is targeted toward the non-emergent, walk-in patient. BHS FastERcare is different from other urgent care centers since there will always be a trained physician on-site. The cost of receiving treatment at BHS FastERcare will be the price of seeing a specialty physician--much less than a visit to the emergency room. In addition to urgent care, x-ray and lab services will also be offered seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. For more information on BHS FastERcare, call 724.284.4174.

Gala Concert To Benefit Community Health Clinic

concert will be held to benefit the Community Health Clinic on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at the Succop Theater of Butler County Community College. Music for Medicine Classical to Jazz will feature Butler residents and distinguished musicians Jim Pugh, William Purvis and Mihae Lee who will also join local musicians, Jim Cunningham and the Trinity Jazz Orchestra, in a program that combines the diverse sounds of jazz and classical music. Last years benefit concert raised more than $39,000 for the Clinic -- help by buying your ticket today! All seats will be reserved and tickets can be mailed to subscribers in advance. Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door. VIP tickets are also available which include a special seating and reception after the concert. United Way Plans Community Disaster Awareness Training

The training is free and includes lunch, but donations are accepted to help cover the costs. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Irene Stacy Center Plans Two Fall Events

he Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center is planning two events for September and October, 2010. The Bridge TO Recovery 5K Run and Walk will take place on September 18, 2010, at Butler County Community College. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the event will begin at 9:00 a.m. The event will feature a Kids Run and a Diaper Dash as well as raffle prizes and a Chinese Auction with an After-Race Party to follow. Music will be provided by guitarist, Frank Ravalli. On October 2, 2010, the Irene Stacy Center will hold the Father John Ayoob Humanitarian Award Dinner honoring County Commissioner, Dale Pinkerton.
