The 2011 Angel Party Needs You!
With two months left until the AmericanSociety Angel Party, there’s still a lot of work to do. We need you!The Angel Party is a Christmas partyheld each year, this year on November 5,for over
220
children in day care centers, orphanages and educational programs, allfunded in part by the American Societyand people like you. The party is held atChapel School and the kids have a greatday of food, games and fun. At the end of the party, Santa Claus comes and giveseach child a special gift bag with presentsfor just that child. We’re in desperate need of people tohelp Santa by shopping for all the itemsin one child’s bag. The list looks like this:tennis shoes, a backpack, a toy, pantsand a shirt, socks, underwear, a coat or sweatshirt and some candy. And then we need plenty of help withorganizing the party, from roundingup sponsors, donors, prizes and cash tohelping on the day of the party. There’sa lot of work to be done. But it’s a greatway to meet new people, lose weight andsave the world all at the same time. Comehelp make the twelfth Angel Party the best party yet.

This monthI would like toinclude my letter which is part of the Lets Make aDifference Folder which includesdescriptionsof the variousorganizations we support.
Presidents Letter,One of the highlights/strong pointsof the American Society of São Paulois the Community Action Committee
(CAC).
This group of volunteers workseffortlessly to raise funds to help the less fortunate children in our community. The CAC members began years agoto identify existing entities in São Paulothat were already making a differencein the city’s neglected children. After evaluating several organizations , it  selected a limited number where the American Society members, individual and corporate, could help throughdonations of time and money.
On the following pages you will nd
a brief description of each organization, how it is supporting children, and how you can help. You can choose todonate directly to the entity or leverage your donation by contributing through Amsoc where the CAC will channel the funds appropriately. The CAC also organizes a megaevent every year-the Christmas Angel  Party. This is a fun day for
250
children and includes lunch, special  games, prizes, and entertainment. Eachchild receives a backpack of clothesand presents. Amsoc members and corporate sponsors participate in thisrewarding day with funds, products, and volunteering to work at the event. Recently the CAC has organized volunteer days for the children, a fun daywith games, with a typical Americanlunch. It is rewarding to see the support by our community characterized by alarge number of volunteers; more thanthe number of children sometimes! As our mission states, “…encouragesintegration with the Brazilian society;and supports the American traditionsof education, philanthropy, and volunteerism.” The American Societydecided years ago to do something tohelp children in need. By joining forceswith select people and organizationsthat are already successful our additional support clearly makes adifference. See how you can help byreviewing the pages in this packet, and we hope you will choose to join us.Sincerely, Joseph Sherman President The American Society of São Paulo
