The Florida Laws and Rules course is designed as a correspondence course thathelps to keep the practicing engineer up to date on the legal documents thatgovern the practice of engineering in the State of Florida.
The primary objective of this course is to familiarize the student with the laws andrules regulating the practice of engineering in the State of Florida. The coursewill focus on changes to the laws and rules that have been implemented duringthe previous biennium from February 2009 to February 2011. Upon successfulcompletion of the course, The student will be well versed of these changes andwill have a better understanding of the disciplinary process.
How to Read this Course:
The entire 61G15 chapter of the Florida administrative code is included with thiscourse. Changes to code have been color coded. Red is new text while deletedtext is shown as crossed through green text. In this way the student cancompare the old with the new text. Before each section that has changed is adescription box that explains what and why the code was changed. Since thepurpose of the course is to learn about the changes to the code the student is notexpected to read every section of 61G15 but is to focus on the revised rules.In order to complete this course the student must pass the quiz published in thefinal chapter of the course. It is recommended that the student keep thesequestions in mind as they read through the course.
Rules adopted, amended or repealed during the immediately preceding bienniumChanges to Chapters 455 and 471, F.S made by the legislature during thepreceding biennium that pertain to the practice of engineering. Case lawconcerning Chapter 471,F.S.Application of provisions of Chapter 471, F.S., to individual disciplinary cases andunlicensed practice cases during the immediately preceding biennium.
Students must achieve a minimum of 70% in the online quiz to pass this course. Thequiz may be taken as many times as necessary. The student will be asked at the end ofthe quiz to attest that he or she has personally and successfully completed all chaptersof instruction. The quiz may be viewed in the final chapter of this course.
