home, an illustrated copy of The Pilgrim's Progress, inscribed"Miss Thompson, with desires for her progress in the blessedpilgrimage, from C. H. Spurgeon
April 20, 1854." It was asign of growing interest, as well as of pastoral care, and her owndeepening sentiment gradually led her to consult Mr. Spurgeonas to her state before God. So the friendship steadily grew.
