We began deep plowing at
Dole in 1992 as part of our
commitment to sustainable
agriculture and better nutrition.
While most plows merely turn the
topsoil six inches, deep plowing reaches down three feet deep,
exposing new, nutrient-rich soil. By turning up more fertile soil
and naturally eliminating most banana pests (known as
nematodes), we’re able to grow taller, healthier plants.
At the Dole Nutrition Institute,
we’re continuing to study the
affects of deep plowing and
other earth-friendly cultivation
digging deeper –
for your body’s
health and your
peace of mind.
