A marchas part of the 99% will start at 12:30pm with stops at financial institutions and JimHillyer’s office. There will be on open mic as we go. The march is approximately 1kmlong and will be kept at a slow pace. For those unable to March, there will be peopleremaining at city hall with information, and discussion. The event will wrap up at around2pm. Attached is the poster for the event. This event is being hosted as part of the solidarity movement with #occupywallst. At lastcount there were over 200 registered events across North America that are also beingheld on Oct.15. #occupywallst is not a ‘lefty-hippie-anarchist’ movement, but rather ademonstration of firm resolve by the 99% of the population that does not have access to25% of the wealth. As the 99% we will stand together and let our governments andcorporations know that we will not allow another catastrophic system failure or theperpetuation of a crippled system. The official Occupy declaration calls for us “to assert (our) power. Exercise (our) right topeaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problemswe face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.” This is what we will begin todo this Saturday as we Occupy Lethbridge. When any group feels mass injustice at circumstances that seems to be beyond theirimmediate control, they must act together to change the circumstances in which theyare found. Together we can change the corporate governance of our lives and create asystem that is a true democracy. A democracy that puts the governments power in thehands of its people, rather than in the hand of economic power.###
