Amanh vamos fazer uma caminhada ecolgica anunciou Sr. Sauro. Oba! disseram todos os alunos empolgados. muito importante que todos tenham uma boa noite de sono antes de irmos explicou o Sr. Sauro. Vo precisar de muita energia para a caminhada. Quando voltavam da escola, Lilico e seus amigos falavam sobre a caminhada. Vou ficar acordado a noite inteira! exclamou Lilico. Assim vou ser o primeiro a ficar pronto. Que idia boba! disse Susi. Se no dormir noite, estar muito cansado amanh disse Crispino. No vou estar, no respondeu Lilico. Vocs vo ver!

Hooray! the excited students chorused. Its very important that everyone gets a good nights sleep before we leave, Mr. Nuggin explained. Youll need a lot of energy for the hike. On the way home from school Wesley and his friends talked about the hike. Im going to stay awake the whole night! Wesley exclaimed. That way Ill be the first one ready. Thats a silly idea, said Suds. If you dont sleep tonight, youll be very tired tomorrow, said Crispin. No, I wont, answered Wesley. Ill show you.

That night when all the other dinosaurs went to sleep, Wesley did his best to stay awake. He read for as long as he possibly could. He crept around the den when his family was asleep. He also got himself some food to snack on. Wesley told himself stories. He even tried to count all the stars in the sky, though he always seemed to lose count and would have to start again. As the sun crept over the horizon, Wesley jumped out of bed and hurried to get his stuff together. Good morning, Wesley, his mother said. Youre up bright and early. Did you sleep well? From what Mr. Nuggin told your father and me, your hike today is going to be quite a big one.

Naquela noite, enquanto todos os outros dinossauros dormiam, Lilico fez de tudo para ficar acordado; leu at no agentar mais, perambulou pela sua toca enquanto sua famlia dormia, fez um lanchinho, contou histrias para si mesmo. At tentou contar todas as estrelas no cu, embora parecia que sempre perdia a conta e ento tinha que comear tudo de novo. Quando o sol apareceu no horizonte, Lilico pulou da cama e correu para juntar suas coisas. Bom dia, Lilico disse sua me. Voc acordou to cedo! Dormiu bem? Pelo que o Sr. Sauro falou com seu pai e eu, a caminhada hoje vai ser bem puxada.

Im ready before you guys, Wesley boasted when he saw his friends. And I stayed up all night long!

Fiquei pronto antes de vocs gabou-se Lilico ao ver seus amigos. E fiquei acordado a noite inteira!

Youre going to get tired, Suds said.

I dont think so! replied Wesley. When the group of hikers had gathered, Mr. Nuggin set a few rules and then said a prayer for their safekeeping. They were ready to set off. At first, Wesley was right at the front of the group of hikers. However, as the morning wore on, Wesley started to fall to the back of the group. The mountain path got steeper and steeper, and Wesley was often yawning and out of breath.

Voc vai ficar cansado disse Susi.

Que nada! respondeu Lilico.

Quando o grupo se reuniu, o Sr. Sauro estabeleceu algumas regras, e fez uma orao por proteo no passeio. Estavam prontos para partir.
Logo no incio, Lilico estava bem na frente do grupo. Todavia, a manh foi se passando e Lilico comeou a ir para o final do grupo. A trilha na montanha que subiam foi ficando cada vez mais ngreme, e Lilico no parava de bocejar e perdia o flego.

Wheres Wesley? Mr. Nuggin asked a short while later. Everyone looked back down the path; Wesley was nowhere to be seen. After several minutes of searching, they found Wesley curled up at the base of a large tree. He was shivering, and his eyes were tired and droopy. Are you okay, Wesley? Mr. Nuggin asked. Wesleys bottom lip quivered, and he yawned. When Wesley tried to stand, his legs were shaky. He was completely exhausted and couldnt hike any further.

Onde est Lilico? perguntou Sr. Sauro pouco tempo depois. Todos o olharam para baixo; Lilico no estava vista. Depois de vrios minutos de busca, eles encontraram Lilico encolhido sentado embaixo de uma grande rvore. Ele tremia, e seus olhos estavam cansados e cados.

Oh dear, it looks like were going to have to head back home, Mr. Nuggin said. But Mr. Nuggin, we havent made it to the top yet, Crispin said. I know. But I dont think Wesley will be able to make it any further. Well have to head back, and perhaps try this climb again another time. The group of hikers sadly turned back down the mountain and made their way home. Wesley had to ride on Mr. Nuggins back, as he was too weak to walk. For several days Wesley was sick in bed. He had caught a nasty cold because he was tired, rundown, and chilled.

Minha nossa, parece que vamos ter que voltar para casa disse o Sr. Sauro. Mas, Sr. Sauro, ainda no chegamos ao topo disse Crispino. Eu sei. Mas no acho que Lilico vai conseguir seguir adiante. Teremos que voltar e talvez faamos essa escalada em outra ocasio. O grupo entristecido deu meia-volta e desceu a montanha a caminho de casa. Lilico teve que ser carregado nas costas do Sr. Saruo, pois estava fraco demais para caminhar. Durantes vrios dias, Lilico ficou de cama doente. Ele pegara um baita resfriado porque ficara cansado, esgotado e com frio.

I think Crispin and Suds are upset at me, Wesley told his mother one evening, when she came to check in on him. Why is that? his mother asked. Because I ruined the hike. You see, I I lied when I said I slept well the night before our hike. I actually stayed up all night. I thought that Id be more ready for the hike. Well, that explains why you got so tired and sick, his mother said. Your body didnt have the energy for the hike, or even to keep you warm, so you got chilled.

Numa noite, a me de Lilico veio ao seu quarto. Acho que Crispino e Susi esto chateados comigo. disse Lilico.

Por que diz isso? perguntou a me.

Porque o passeio foi arruinado por minha causa. Sabe, eu... eu menti quando disse que tinha dormido bem na noite antes da caminhada. Na verdade, eu fiquei acordado a noite inteira. Achei que assim ia ficar mais pronto para o passeio... Hum, isso explica porque ficou to cansado e at doente disse sua me. Seu corpo no tinha a energia para o passeio nem mesmo como mant-lo aquecido, ento se resfriou.

Im so sorry, Wesley said with tears in his eyes. If I had known this was going to happen, I wouldnt have stayed up all night. Instead, I wouldve gone to sleep. Im sure you would have, but sometimes you need to obey even though you dont understand all the reasons.

Sinto muito mesmo disse Lilico com lgrimas nos olhos. Se eu soubesse que isso ia acontecer, eu teria dormido. Sei que teria feito isso. Mas s vezes preciso obedecer mesmo sem entender os porqus de uma situao.

A couple of weeks later, Mr. Nuggin said they were going to try to climb the mountain again, and reminded everyone to have a good a nights sleep. Wesley went home, and asked his parents if he could go to bed earlier than normal. He wanted to be fit and ready for the hike. The next day Wesley was full of energy, and wasnt tired at all. The group made it to the top of the mountain and back without any problems.

Mais ou menos duas semanas mais tarde, Sr. Sauro disse que iam escalar a montanha novamente, e lembrou a todos de terem uma boa noite de sono. Lilico foi para casa e pediu aos seus pais se poderia ir para a cama mais cedo do que o normal. Ele queria estar em forma e pronto para a caminhada. No dia seguinte, Lilico estava cheio de energia. O grupo chegou ao topo da montanha e retornou sem problemas.

Moral: Your body needs proper care in order to stay healthy. If you sleep well and eat well, you will be less likely to get sick.

Moral: Seu corpo precisa ser bem cuidado para se manter saudvel. Ento importante que voc come bem e dormir bem. Dessa forma, voc ser menos provvel ficar doente.
