Criminology is the scientific study of the making of laws, the breaking of laws, and society’s reaction to the breaking of laws. Sometimes theselaws are arrived at by the consensus of most members of a community;sometimes they are imposed by those in power. Communities havegrown in size, from village to world, and the threats to communitieshave grown accordingly. World level threats necessitated thatcriminological research and crime prevention strategies becomeglobalized.
