Introduction

This guide, the concepts and detail presented, will help you to revise for and pass the Oracle 1Z0-042 examination and give you that valuable OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) qualification. Your first step towards becoming an Oracle Certified Professional.

This is not an easy examination to pass. It would certainly not be so worthwhile or valued if it was. In addition to this document you will need to study one of the commercially available books on the subject, and have access to a computer with Oracle10g installed. Commercially available training would also be extremely useful.

This document attempts to point you in the right direction by letting you know the kind of information you will need to know to pass the examination. Use this document to guide your study efforts at the beginning and as a revision guide prior to taking the exam. Be prepared to work hard. Good luck.

I have put a lot of work into creating this document. If you find it useful please feel free to make a small donation via PayPal tostevecholerton@mac.com, or even just send me an email and let me know you found it useful :-)

Many thanks to Jonathan Lewis,http://www.jlcomp.demon.co.uk/, renowned Oracle expert and author. Jonathan gave his time to help with the technical editing of this document. His blog can be found athttp://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/
