On ISABS
The Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science (ISABS) was registered in January 1972 as a
professional body under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. Over the past years ISABS membership
has grown considerably. Most of its growth has been brought about through its Professional Development
and Internship Programmes.
ISABS is a national non-profit, voluntary professional organisation founded by a group of behavioural
scientists engaged in applying their knowledge and skills for the well-being of persons, organisations and
communities. Its members work as independent consultants, trainers, counsellors, academecians, training
managers, personnel and human resource development managers in industrial and non-industrial
organisations and as community change agents.
Human processes play an important role in the life of any group, institution, organisation, community or a
nation. It is important for men and women to unblock their latent energies and expand their own unique
strengths and potential.
ISABS also offers programmes to develop professionals capable of facilitating such experience based
learning in organizational and societal contexts. Apart from the Human Process Labs. And Professional
Development Programmes, ISABS also offers in the Regional and National Events, theme based learning in
areas such as Gender Processes, Values and Institution Building, Personal Effectiveness, Extension
Motivation, etc.
ISABS utilises experience based learning as its main training method. Experiencing, reflecting,
hypothesising, conceptualising and experiementing are the chief ingredients of the process of learning in a
laboratory setting.
ISABS, Kolkata Region (there are 8 other Regions) started in 1991. We have regular monthly meetings and
major events offering different types of human process labs, atleast twice a year.
