Section 1: Introduction and site information
We are proposing to use the foreshore of the RiverThames adjacent to King Edward Memorial Park for thisconstruction work, and to accommodate permanentstructures required to operate the main tunnel. The sitewould be used to connect the existing local CSO, knownas the North East Storm Relief CSO, to the main tunnel. An area within King Edward Memorial Park would also beused temporarily for our construction works. The location of the site is shown in Figure 1A. Part of the site would be located within the foreshore of theRiver Thames, with the remainder of the site locatedwithin the multi-purpose sports area and park depotin the south western corner of King Edward MemorialPark. The Thames Path runs along the riverside and islocated within the site. To the north of the park is TheHighway (A1203). Free Trade Wharf, an apartment block,is located to the east. To the south is Shadwell BasinOutdoor Activity Centre and apartment blocks and to thewest is Glamis Road. The site is within the Wapping WallConservation Area.
