1_Google
1.1_What is Google?
Google Inc. is an American multinational public corporation investedin Internet search, cloud computing, and advertising technologies.Google hosts and develops a number of Internet-based services andproducts, and generates profit primarily from advertising through itsAdWords program.
1.2_What is Google really--a search engine, an advertising company,a media company, or some combination of the three?
Google is definitely growing and expanding, and some could arguethat it is happening too quickly. It has an inordinate amount of opportunity for a young company, because it lives in the nexus of media technology and distribution, where there is a great deal of leverage. The irony, of course, is that when Google was younger, itsucceeded so much [that] it became a verb, because it was entirelyfocused on just one thing: search. But there is so much involved in search that even when you think you're focused on one thing, it turns out you're focused on multipleindustries at the same time. Google is in a business that seems verysimple, but it is actually a rather complicated business, because itreaches so many different industries.
2_Who are under Google?
The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, oftendubbed the "Google Guys", while the two were attending StanfordUniversity as PhD candidates.
 2.1_Google's start
It was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4,1998, and its initial public offering followed on August 19, 2004. Atthat time Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Eric Schmidt agreed to work together at Google for twenty years, until the year 2024. Thecompany's mission statement from the outset was "to organize theworld's information and make it universally accessible and useful",and the company's unofficial slogan – coined by Google engineer Amit

Patel and supported by Paul Buchheit – is "Don't be evil". In 2006, thecompany moved to its current headquarters in Mountain View,California.
3_ The associations should fear Google?
You should always cautiously approach a very large corporate entitywith a voracious appetite for information. Still, I believe that Googlehas in its core character a desire to "do good." I think that Google'sfounders and the people at the company generally have high integrityvalues. It doesn't mean, however, that the company won't do thingsthat might run counter to its informal motto of "do no evil."
 3.1_Failures and successes
Everybody knows that Google Inc.'s (GOOG ) innovations in searchtechnology made it the No. 1 search engine. But Google didn't makemoney until it started auctioning ads that appear alongside the searchresults. Advertising today accounts for 99% of the revenue of acompany whose market capitalization now tops $100 billion.
4_Google's business
4.1_Google stock market
Google's initial public offering took place on August 25, 2004. A totalof 19,605,052 shares were offered at a price of $85 per share. Of that,14,142,135 were floated by Google and 5,462,917 by sellingstockholders. The sale raised US$1.67 billion, and gave Google amarket capitalization of more than $23 billion. The vast majority of Google's 271 million shares remained under Google's control. Many of Google's employees became instant paper millionaires. Yahoo!, acompetitor of Google, also benefited from the IPO because it owns 2.7million shares of Google. The company is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the tickersymbol GOOG.
