1.2_What is Google really--a search engine, an advertising company,a media company, or some combination of the three?
Google is definitely growing and expanding, and some could arguethat it is happening too quickly. It has an inordinate amount of opportunity for a young company, because it lives in the nexus of media technology and distribution, where there is a great deal of leverage. The irony, of course, is that when Google was younger, itsucceeded so much [that] it became a verb, because it was entirelyfocused on just one thing: search.But there is so much involved in search that even when you think you're focused on one thing, it turns out you're focused on multipleindustries at the same time. Google is in a business that seems verysimple, but it is actually a rather complicated business, because itreaches so many different industries.
2_Who are under Google?
The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, oftendubbed the "Google Guys", while the two were attending StanfordUniversity as PhD candidates.
It was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4,1998, and its initial public offering followed on August 19, 2004. Atthat time Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Eric Schmidt agreed to work together at Google for twenty years, until the year 2024. Thecompany's mission statement from the outset was "to organize theworld's information and make it universally accessible and useful",and the company's unofficial slogan – coined by Google engineer Amit
