Recognizing and honoring City of Minneapolis employee veterans andmembers of the armed forces for their service to the United States of America andfor their exemplary commitment to public service.
Whereas, November 11th of each year has been formally designated asVeterans Day, a time when the nation comes together to pay tribute to the men andwomen who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces, and this day isset aside so that all Americans may properly commemorate these patriots; andWhereas, in an unbroken line of valor stretching across more than twocenturies
whether in Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard
—America’s veteransand members of the armed forces have charged into harm’s way, risked their lives, and
sometimes paid the ultimate sacrifice, to protect and preserve the liberties andfreedoms that have blessed America; andWhereas, the City of Minneapolis proudly employs more than 460 veterans andmembers of the armed forces, some of whom are currently deployed in defense of ourNation; andWhereas, the veterans and members of the armed forces recognized todayexhibit the finest qualities of public service, serving their Country as well as the Citizensof the City of Minneapolis, and that service requires extraordinary sacrifice from theseservice members as well as their families and loved ones; andWhereas, it is right and proper to recognize and pay tribute to all veterans andmembers of the armed forces for the great debt of gratitude we owe, but especially tothose who have continued their public service as employees of the City of Minneapolis;Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by The City Council of The City of Minneapolis:That the City of Minneapolis hereby expresses its most sincere and heartfeltgratitude, appreciation, and thanks to all its employee veterans and members of thearmed forces for their exemplary and ongoing commitment to public service, both asmilitary personnel and as employees of the City of Minneapolis.Be It Further Resolved that, with respect for and in recognition of the manycontributions of our service men and women, the Mayor and City Council herebypresent each employee veteran and member of the armed forces a Certificate of
