DRY DUSTING

1.dry dusting is To remove dust Irom by wiping, brushing, or beating


2. cleaning objective: Iloor and Iurniture
3. cleaning equipment: soIt clothes and ceiling broom
4. procedure: As in all cleaning procedures, the Iirst step is to gather the
recommended janitorial equipment and supplies together and bring to the area to
be cleaned.


DAMP DUSTING
1. Damp dusting is the cleaning oI Ilat surIaces (e.g trolley tops, worksurIaces,
anaesthetic machines, etc) to remove dust Irom the perioperative environment prior
to the commencement oI the operating list (Rationale 1and 2).

Procedure
Standard precaution must be applied and personel protective equipment donned when dealing
with cleaning products (Rationale 4).
MicroIibre cleansing cloths shoud be used damp not wet with the detergent.
Wipe all horizontal work surIaces, equipment and operating lights.
As MicroIibre cleansing cloths are used damp they do not need drying aIter use (Rationale 5).
II an area is heavily comtaminated with dust, cleansing cloths must not be reimmersed into
cleaning solution. A new cloth must be obtained (Rationale 6).
In the absence oI the microIibre cleansing cloths and the approprate detergent:
O Mix approximately 10 ml oI neutral hospital detergent with 5 litres oI warm tap water
into bowl and place bowl in the bowl stand.
O Dampen a cloth in a water-detergent solution squeezing out any excess Iluid.
O Wipe all work surIaces and equipment.
O II area is heavily comtaminated, cloths must not be reimmersed into the detergent. A
new cloth must be obtained (Rationale 6).
O Dry surIaces with dry paper towel (Rationale 7).
ompleting the procedure
On completion oI the procedure, all used microIibre cloths must be disposed oI in the allocated
cart Ior collection.
Any disposable cloths used in the absence oI the microIibre cloths must be disposed oI into the
yellow clinical waste bags Ior incineration (Rationale 8).
Any water-detergent solution used must be disposed oI in the approprate sluice area.
II an allocated bowl is used Ior detergent this bowl must be cleaned and dried aIter each use
(Rationale 9).
All protective clothing used in the process should be disposed oI according to the waste disposal
policy (Rationale 8).
Hands must be washed aIter undertaking the procedure and removing all personal protective
equipment.
