Statement on the announcement of the Union Election Commission, "The election will be held on the 7th November, 2010"
FTUB releases that the announcement of the Union Election Commission, "the election will be held on the 7th November, 2010" is just a diversion to take away the attention of the country and the international community on currently facing food crisis and unrest within the military. Although the military regime has announced that its sham election will be held on 2010, in practice, it is facing many obstacles. While the international community was urging the military to hold the election with inclusiveness, the National League for Democracy (NLD) and other prominent political parties denied participating in it. Cease Fire ethnic forces are refusing "the proposal of Border Guard (BGF)" of the military regime and many ethnic nationalities have announced that they will not allow any voting in their area. The regime has also financial difficulties due to unrealistic projects have lead to conflicts within the armed forces-the main issue being the savings of the soldiers misused through joint ventures developed without business skills. These financial difficulties are seen but the unfairness is reflected in the treatment for the USDP. In spite of announcing to have over millions of members and unfair advantages on campaigning over other political parties, with the fear of loosing the election, Gen Than Shwe is using the military savings to support the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP)'s political campaigns --- where some townships received 4,000 kyats (search in BBC in July Aug ) while the troops in that area and their families are starving .

The objectives of the diversion are as below ---1) to take away the attention of the country and international community on the unrest within the military

2) to use the time to print currency notes to calm down the military who are asking back their savings 3) to launch military attacks against those who refuse to become BGF and use these attacks as a solidifying action for the troops 4) to divide and annihilate the ethnics by ordering the same nationalities who became BGF to attack these who refuse FTUB calls upon the people of Burma, the international community not get be diverted but press on the respective issues so that the basic rights re respected and restored and their will be dialogue for an inclusive political process. contact phone number-
