1.WHAT ONE SENTENCE BEST DESCRIBES YOUR IDEA?
UVOL (United Volunteerism) is a simple, fast, easy, social website where volunteers andorganizations will connect to change volunteerism forever.
2.DESCRIBE YOUR IDEA IN MORE DEPTH.
UVOL Mission:Make volunteerism mainstream, easy and accessible to everyone.Promoteand encourage volunteerism everywhere.Unite the volunteer community in one completeand comprehensive spot on the web.Initial Goal: Create an easily searchable database of all volunteer positions in the worldusing a combination of user and UVOL created content along with website crawlers.Long-Term Goal: Make UVOL the place where all communication, volunteer applications, news and updates regarding volunteer projects are managed.Using a simple user interface, volunteer organizations, volunteer project coordinators andvolunteers will create and manage their own user profiles.Organizations and projectcoordinators will create project pages detailing the types of projects that need to be filledand what type(s) of volunteers they are looking for.Volunteers will list their personalinformation and the type(s) of work they are looking for.A suggestion engine willautomatically inform individuals and organizations with profiles on UVOL (users) of projectsor volunteers that meet their inputted criteria.

Search will be fast and flexible.Organizations and project coordinators will be able tosearch for volunteers based on, but not limited to: education, experience, age, etc.Volunteers will be able to search for volunteer positions based on, but not limited to: datesof project, location, organization, type of work, project language, etc.Users can send/receive messages, conduct live group chat sessions, produce blogs, link tovolunteers they know on the site, link to previous or current projects, leave reviews/references for projects and volunteers and upload documents like CVs/resumes andpictures.Users will control what personal information can be seen, by whom and under whatcircumstances.Website visitors with or without profiles on UVOL will have access to allpublicly displayed information provided by users of UVOL.UVOL will be free for everyone.
3.WHAT PROBLEM OR ISSUE DOES YOUR IDEA ADDRESS?
People who wish to volunteer should be able to do so without difficulty. It should be easyfor those with a volunteer project to find volunteers who will help to make their dreams of positive change a reality. As it stands now, neither is easy.Website or not, there is no one place in the world where a potential volunteer can look tofind a volunteer position(s) that best suits his/her wants and needs quickly, easily and forfree.Small volunteer organizations and projects around the world have little money and/or timeto find the type of volunteers they are looking for who will best help them meet their goals.UVOL will address these problems by making one website where people from all over theworld will come in order to connect and easily find the volunteer project or person thatmeets their needs.
4.IF YOUR IDEA WERE TO BECOME A REALITY, WHO WOULD BENEFIT THE MOSTAND HOW?
UVOL will finally make it easy for volunteers to communicate directly with projectcoordinators and current or previous volunteers. With UVOL's ideas of social networkingand collective community communication, projects given positive reviews by users will seehigher volumes of volunteers applying for positions.Projects given negative reviews mayindicate questionable motives or means by organizations or project coordinators. This willallow volunteers to make informed decisions regarding projects.Domestic and international projects, large and small, will see increases in volunteerapplication submissions.Small groups, or individuals, will be able to find volunteers tolaunch or sustain a successful project.Communities of volunteers and projects will gather on UVOL to form niches surroundingtopics that matter to them.Through UVOL, volunteerism everywhere will see positive growth and change.UVOL willhelp not only volunteers and projects, but everyone in the communities where projects areoperating.
