I truly wish you the best with your online business. Let me answer one final
question I get often. "Is this really how you got to where you are in Ebay? If so,
aren't you worried about giving away your secrets?" The short answer is yes and
no. Yes, these are the real sources I use and have used for my business. No, I
am not worried about my secrets getting out for this reason: Most people will
never do anything with this information. Most people are looking for an easy way
to make millions from home--Ebay has not been that for me. My experience is
that Ebay is a lot of work. Success always is. Most people are not willing to put
the time and resources into their business to make it work, so this information is
not that dangerous to me. I hope that is not you.
The higher your feedback the more bidders you will get and the better prices you will command. You have to be
faithful in posting feedback and ask your customers to post feedback for you. If you don't ask, it won't happen.
(Advanced user note - do you have an item that might have a high negative feedback tendency? Or do you want to
avoid totally unwarranted negatives? Here is what you do. Do not leave feedback for high negative items unless the
customer has left it for you first (Some auction management services will do this for you). If you have a very high
feedback score, just stop leaving feedback altogether. Most bidders will not leave negative feedback for you if you if
they fear you may respond in kind.
feedback. Choose something that you can sell over and over -- something you won't cry too much if you lose a little on. I used laser pointers to build my rating so I could sell digital cameras. It has worked very well. Now that I can sell higher dollar items, I can make $10-$100 per transaction rather than the $1-$2 on a laser pointer.
were able to purchase over $20,000 worth of products and receive great quantity discounts. Most of the time we are able to receive enough money in on sales to cover the credit card bill. CAUTION--if you use credit cards, make sure you can come up with the money if you have to! Ebay is not a sure thing--you need a back-up plan.
$200-$1000 within 3 or 4 weeks of starting Ebay. The temptation is to pocket the money and spend a night on the town--NOT WISE! Remember you have big credit card bills coming in AND a growing Ebay account. Don't get money hungry--let things float until you know what kind of money you are actually making.
money--don't do it for free. It is important to make sure whatever items you sell, you make your S/H fit in line with
similar items on Ebay. I always recommend that you make some profit on S&H. By charging extra on S&H you can
make extra money and also reduce your item price to make your auction more appealing and competitive. And
remember, Ebay does not charge you final value fees on S&H.
profit. They want to make $5 or $10 per sale. But these people end up overpricing their items and there auctions do
not get any bids. These people usually drop out after only a few auctions thinking they cannot make any money. The
key is to think high volume. If you create a portfolio of 10 small items such as Laser Pointers, Spy Ears, Mini
Massagers, Lighters ect (You can find all of these items at an excellent wholesale dropship source
charge $3.95 to $4.95 S&H. For each item in your portfolio, you would make $2 to $4 profit. You sell 5 of each item per week (Not hard at these prices - these are small sales). That's $15 profit per item per week. You have 10 items in your portfolio so you will average $150 per week profit or about $600 per month in sales. Not bad for a few dollar items. Now think if you increase your portfolio to 25 or 50 items (you will need an management service for this). Also, this is dollar items. Once your feedback goes up, you can start selling higher profit items. Some items will generate $50 per month profit while others will bring in 10 times that much.
auctions that don't sell or don't sell for enough. The truth is that building a strong portfolio of items is hard. You may have to try numerous items at various prices, ending times and categories before you find an item that consistently sells well. But once you do it's likely to stay that way and you will consistently make money from that item for many months or years. You can save some time and money by checking eBay for "ended" auctions of the same item you are considering selling. Check to see how many were actually sold and for how much (Remember to include the sellers S&H since some people charge very high S&H to offset their low sale price). If you cannot find any of your item that may be a very good sign (no competition) or a very bad sign. In that case, just use your best instinct.
will not sell their items. I like to be the low cost seller because it can't hurt your sales, but the truth is, many eBay
buyers are impulse buyers - especially for items under $10. They see an auction that is about to end and even if they
don't need the item they often feel an impulse to bid because of the clock. It's amazing how often I have seen two
bidders raise the price of an item to amazing amounts when the same item is ending in a different auction with no
bids only 30 minutes later. Most bidders do not research for better prices. They bid on what they see in front of
them.
allow you to maximize your profit while minimizing the time you spend listing and managing auctions. These
services range from Free to very expensive. My recommendation is that you stay away from any service that charges
you a percentage and try not to spend more than $10 per month unless you are listing many hundreds of auctions per
month and require more advanced tools.
