AFRICA South of the Sahara Study Guide


Use this study guide to GUIDE you in your preparation for the test. Everything that we went over in this unit may show up on the test, and this study guide should not replace your notes when studying. You should study all of your notes INCLUDING this study guide.

I. Maps of Africa Parts of both maps you completed in class may appear on the test. This
includes: - Major countries that we discussed directly - Major cities/Capital cities that we specifically discussed in class - Major physical features (i.e. Mt. Kilimanjaro, Nile River, etc.)

II. Multiple Choice Questions These questions in multiple choice format will focus on
the general knowledge and information covered during the unit. Sample questions and information include:

III. Map and Graph Skills You will be given an Bar Graph for one section and need to
be able to: - Interpret information related to caloric intake and the countries in Southern Africa.

IV. Vocabulary Be sure to know the definitions of each term from this unit of study. You
should also be able to draw a picture that describes the term and explain your drawing. Last, you should be able to explain why we discussed each term in this unit of study. V. LEQ Questions You will be given two LEQ questions. Essays must be well written,
give 3-5 facts from our unit of study, and be at lest 8-10 sentences long. How does desertification impact the Sahara region? How has genocide impacted Rwanda and Darfur? What are the major political and physical locations south of the Sahara?
