Current statistics inform us that 70% of the US sex trafficking victims have come out of the foster care system, belying physical, emotional and sexual abuse in the home as young children (conversation with Celestia Tracy, November 2011). These children learn to run away from home or the shelter or the foster home, and the majority that stay on the streets are picked up by a pimp within 48 hours. Girls that survive the terrors of commercial sexual exploitation, or forced prostitution, suffer extensive damage to their bodies and souls, and need a host of community services once they are out of the Life.
