Rebirth of Instant Polaroid...the Joy and Fun is Back!
By Solomon WalkerWho doesn't love the classic, fun, instant snappy and creamy-smooth camera and filmdeveloping innovations from Polaroid?I think that anyone who has ever had any early inkling for capturing images made with afun and affordable camera probably has the very fondest memories of Polaroid specialimaging products. They are truly unique! As many folks already know, the Polaroid officially stopped making its unique instant films in late2008. The company had publicly announced in February of the year that it intended ondoing so. It was a disappointing end for sure, to over 60 colour-filled years of superbinnovations and captured memories - ranging from family vacations, new births, joyful birthdays, Christmas celebrations, backyard barbeques, water fights, sand castlesat the beach and playgrounds, hop-scotch and skipping ropes, road trips, camping get-aways, plus so much more.... What a joy ride of life's many splendor!Well, it was back in late 2008 that I added an article on my
social page, writtenby noted author, Geoff Dyer, entitles “
” - which re-capped a bit of history and nostalgic moments from one of moderntechnology's unforgettable breakthroughs, that magically impacted millions of people'slives worldwide. And, since Polaroid's startling announcement, I too was ready tosay goodbye to their instant cameras and films (though I kept my old
on abookshelf at home as a keepsake memento). I just couldn't part with it -- yet.Well, to my surprise and glee, a couple of weeks ago, I received a few unusual emails (Iam now on so many company email listings, I simply can't keep up!) ...which had linksto various new and innovative technology. And, being the “
” that I amusually, I followed a few of the links. At some point, I ended up at a website with a titlein huge b&w fonts that read –
. I was about to close the page (as I usually do)thinking this was yet another gimmicky time-waster. But, there was something differenthere...especially all the colourful text sprinkled about, with tucks of off-beat, humorousimages of people, and such unique products... I decided to browse a little longer (they dohave a really BEAUTIFUL website!). Of course, it may have been the Polaroid nametoo, which kept popping up here and there (surprisingly, as it never does anymore)...so, Iwanted to know why...?. And, after a while, I found the answer.
