Luweng Jomblang (29-30 October 2011) http://iwing.wordpress.

Cave Jomblang or in the local language called Luweng Jomblang, located in the Village Jetis, Semanu District, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Luweng Jomblang diameter is 30 meters and has a depth of 40 meters. The bottom of luweng Jomblang is little forest which is restricted by karst rock at the edges.

The character of this cave is a combination of vertical and horizontal cave, to enter the cave terrace we must rappeling to the bottom, to reach the Jomblang cave requires bravery, especially for first timers. But not only bravery you needed but also a bunch of equipments such as Carabiner, Rope (Caremantel),Croll, Hand Ascenders, Stop, Seat Harness, Omni, Helmet and Head lamp, Dry Bag, Boots etc.

Back to the itinerary, after our instructur (Mr.Lancar and Mr.Anto) check all equipment, the journey to the bottom of Luweng Jomblang begun. The first volunteer from our team was mas Bas, second was mba Indah, third was Me, and the fourth was mas Dida. Remember always keep in our mind that these phrase trust the intructor, trust the equipment, trust the belayer and trust your self. And now we can yell as loud as we can cowabunga, jump now, think later.....auo...auo..auo.

First mision totally completed and here we are the pathetic four at the bottom of Luweng Jomblang.

when we reached the bottom of the cave, all the fatigue and fear will be replaced by a sense of awe of the beauty of Luweng Jomblang.

After take a rest for a while, the journey was continue. We walked or dry trekking to underground river at the bottom of Luweng Grubug.

It doesnt cross waterways, nor does trough the mud because there has been composed of concrete blok as stepping. It took approximately 15 minutes to the Luweng grubug, we heard the sound of gurgling water from underground stream before were arrived at the underground river.

Gradually, we saw the light of sun that looks like tinge of light that falls from the top of Luweng Grubug to the bottom of underground river.

Finally we arrived at the bottom of Luweng Grubug which are located at 80 meters above us, 20 meters under us is underground river. The first scene that we saw was the light falling to the flowstone. This is one of the most interesting object.

This cave has 15 meters of diameter and 100 meters depth, there are stories from the past that Luweng Grubug is the disposal of political prisoner. Their bones were found in 90s, it was kinda spoky is it?. At 12:00-13:00 PM we take a rest and also enjoyed the extraordinary view of Luweng Grubug, we also didnt forget to took a siluet picture among us.

After 2 hours in Luweng Grubug its time to came back to Luweng Jomblang, to reach the surface we must ascending Luweng Jomblang by rope. It was be difficult in the first time, but it will be easier when try the ascending process periodically.

It needs about 20-30 minutes for climbing by rope for the beginner, but for the expert it takes only 15 minutes for climbing Luweng Jomblang.

The main challenge for a caver in ascending time is confidence. Be brave and trust ourself. Just lost our scary feeling and then trust everything on your caving instructor and the cave equipment, so we can face the challenge safety.

After all caver were being on the top of Luweng Jomblang, we took a rest in the resort. We can clean ourself there, took a bath and anything we should do before enjoying the food and beverages in the evening. Caving Jomblang has been finished, see you in another adventure......
