2.0 INSTALLATIONREAD THIS DOCUMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THETHERMONET INSTALLATION GUIDE.
This thermostat is designed to control Thermonet electrical floor heating. The resistive load must not exceed 3680 Watts(NI) @ 230 VAC (16 AMPS).For areas exceeding 16 AMPS (Approximately 24m
2
Thermonet or 19m
2
Thermonet Extra) that require control bya single thermostat, a snubber/contactor must be used.Snubbers/contactors are available from your Thermonetdistributor.
2.1 THERMOSTAT LOCATION
The thermostat should be located within the room to beheated, subject to current electrical regulations relating tobathrooms and wet areas. As the thermostat is floor sensingit can be installed outside the room or in a cupboard ifnecessary. For easy operation, choose a location about 1.3mabove the floor. Should a remote location for the thermostatbe necessary the system wiring can be extended up to 50m from the installation. Suitable extension wire is available from your Thermonet distributor.
2.2 FLOOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR LOCATION/INSTALLATION
Always install the floor temperature sensor in conduit. Afterlaying out the heatmat(s), select a suitable position for the floor sensor.
 Example of floor sensor location
Mark the position of the floor sensor on the floor. Removethe surrounding heatmat(s) and cut a channel in the floorto accommodate the conduit. This will maintain the overall finished floor level. Ensure that the floor is clean beforeinstallation of heatmat(s).Using a multimeter, measure the resistance between the twoconnection wires in the floor temperature sensor flex. For temperatures between 20ºC and 30ºC the resistanceshould measure between 8K Ohm and 12K Ohm.Check the resistance before and after installation.
2.3 THERMOSTAT MOUNTING/WIRING
Step 1
Unscrew and remove the thermostat front panel.Note: The screw is captive and cannot be removedcompletely.
Step 2
Check to make sure the base of the thermostatcovers the single gang wall mounting box entirely. If not, clipthe wall plate onto the back of the thermostat body.
Step 3
Connect the 230 VAC supply wires to the thermostat.

Step 4
Connect each of the heatmat(s) load wires to thethermostat. For installations of three or more heatmats, connect theconnection wires to a junction box and take single feeds toterminals L2 and N4.
Step 5
Connect the floor sensor wires to terminal 6 andterminal 7. (The floor sensor wires are not polaritysensitive.)
Step 6
Configuration of options. The thermostat has two option settings controlled bymicroswitches on the rear of the front panel.Early start function. This enables the thermostat to calculate the optimum starttime to obtain the right temperature at the set time. The factory setting for this feature of ‘OFF’. To enable this function set the microswitch 1 to the up position.Temperature display ºC/ºF.The temperature readout on the display can be either ºC orºF. The factory setting for this feature is ºC. To change to ºFset the microswitch 2 to the up position. Note: If changedto ºF the comfort and economy settings will need to bereconfigured.
Step 7
Push excess wire back into the wall mounting boxand secure the thermostat body to the mounting box usingthe two screws provided.
Step 8
Clip the top of the thermostat front panel to thethermostat body and secure with the captive screw.
2.4 POWER UP
When power is applied for the first time, the display willshow all icons before showing the time 0.00, the floortemperature and the manual mode icon .Other information might show up on the display if theinstallation is defective or does not comply with theinstructions. The message LO or HI will appear on the display if thetemperature is below 0ºC (32ºF), above 60ºC (140ºF) or ifthe temperature sensor is defective. Also if the LO messageis displayed, the heating indicator will be present on thedisplay and the relay will be closed (current going to load).
2.5 OPERATING MODES
The thermostat has three operating modes.
Manual
This mode allows you to maintain a constant floortemperature.
Automatic
This mode allows you to program your own heatingschedule for each day of the week.
Holiday
This mode sets the thermostat to your specified holidaytemperature. Regardless of manual or automatic mode, thissetting will maintain a constant floor temperature.
