Marland Children’s Home
Volume Two - Issue Four
From the Desk of Kerri Bowman, Chief Development Of
August 2011
Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Canadian County Children’s Center’s gain is the Marland Children’s Home’s loss. OurExecutive Director, Bill Alexander, is leaving to return to his hometown (Yukon, Ok) to help the Centerwhich he helped build/design a decade ago. I am happy to report that Bill and his family thought longand hard before accepting the position (there was no search, they called for him). We are tremendouslygrateful for his nearly 5 years of service here. The Alexanders’ return to be closer to family and continueto serve the children of Oklahoma.Obviously, Bill Alexander’s leadership was instrumental on a variety of fronts with our children, ourstaff, in improving programs, with volunteer leadership, helping stabilize funding, enhancing fundraisingfor our Home and the development of a new organizational structure with the advent of the MarlandChildren’s Home. Please join our Board, our Staff and our kids in wishing the family all the best in theirnew adventure. They will truly be missed and will always be part of our great big family. The Marland Children’s Home Board of Directors immediately formed a Search Committee andhas already begun receiving applications for the position of CEO. Of course, we suspect this couldbe a multi-month process and as more information becomes available, I will be sharing it with you.Meanwhile, Jimmie Reeves, our Director of Social Services will be serving as Interim Director. TheBoard of Directors has stated they have complete con
dence in our dedicated staff to hold down thefort until our new leader is discovered. As always, if you have any questions at all, please feel free tocontact me.
