XEL 2012 Programs and Pricing

Instructional Classes:
Mini-Fence:
Schedule: Mondays 6:00 7:00pm. Program Dates: Session 3: January 9 February 13, session 4: March 5 April 16 (no class on March 19) Program Description: For children aged 6 11 Program Cost: $115 per 6-week session includes equipment & OFA Foundation Membership (required)

Introduction to Fencing:
Schedule: Wednesdays 6:30 8:00pm Program Dates: Session 3: January 11 February 15, Session 4: March 7 April 11 Ages 10 adult, all are welcome! Program Cost: $160 per 6 week session, which includes all equipment and a mandatory OFA Foundation Membership (a $15 value).

Yellow Armband (Foil)


Schedule: Wednesdays 6:30 8:00pm Program Dates: Session 3: January 11 February 15, Session 4: March 7 April 11 Program Description: For those who have completed an Intro Class and are now looking to develop their core skills. There is an additional charge for equipment rental if participants dont have their own. Entry to this class is by invitation only please talk to your coach if you are interested (note that participants may be required to pass a skills test). Program Cost: $100 plus OFA membership for 6 weeks of instruction, $180 if you sign up for both sessions -12 weeks (savings of $20)

Orange Armband (Foil)


Schedule: Mondays 6:00 7:30pm Program Dates: Session 3: January 9 February 13, Session 4: March 5 April 16 (no class on March 19) Program Description: For fencers with more experience, this class focuses on improving the fencers skills and implementing them in a more competitive setting. This class will help participants to consolidate knowledge from previous classes as well as introduce more advanced technical and tactical skills. There is an additional charge for equipment rental if participants dont have their own. Entry to this class is by invitation only please talk to your coach if you are interested (note that participants may be required to pass a skills test). Program Cost: $100 plus OFA membership for 6 weeks of instruction, $180 if you sign up for both sessions -12 weeks- ($20 savings)

Wheelchair fencing
Schedule: Monday 6:00 7:30 Program Dates: Session 3: January 9 February 13 (no classes on family day) Session 4: March 5 April 16 (no class on March 19) Program Description: For beginner and intermediate wheelchair fencers, this class focuses on core skill acquirement and refinement Program Cost: $100 plus OFA membership for 6 weeks of instruction.

Free Fencing
Open Fencing
Schedule: Mondays from 7:30 9:30 pm; Wednesdays from 8:00 10:00 pm Program Description: Any fencers (who have acquired the necessary skills) participating in the above classes are welcome to stay for open fencing. During this time fencers will have the opportunity to practise their skills in a more realistic setting with other club members Program Cost: There is no charge for fencers who are registered in one of our armband programs. For other fencers, the fee is $40 / month, which allows you to participate in any open fencing session. Please note that all participants must have at least an OFA Foundation Membership ($15). Transition or Excellence memberships are strongly encouraged as they are required for all external competitions. Fencers are required to have their own equipment in this program. Equipment may be available to rent from XEL for an additional fee please talk to your coach for details. A 6% discount can be applied if paying for the entire term (4 months) =$150 term.

Lessons:
We are pleased to make available individual lessons with our coaches and instructors for an additional fee. If you are interested in taking individual lessons, then please talk to your coach for details. Note that only a few lesson spots are available each week, so please be sure to book ahead! Lessons range in price from $10 - $35 for a short lesson depending on qualifications of the coach, and are available in all weapons. Anybody taking lessons must have a current OFA membership.

Drop in:
Fee: $20 /night for open fencing must provide own equipment and hold a current OFA membership . OFA Memberships: See OFA website for details: http://fencingontario.ca/membership/ st st OFA Memberships are valid for one fencing season (from August 1 July 31 ). FOUNDATION $15 This level is for those who are new to fencing. TRANSITION $42.50 [INCLUDES CFF LICENSE] This level is for those who wish to participate in the CFF Instructional Program, or in local training competitions (such as the Spooky Foil), and workshops. EXCELLENCE $77.50 [INCLUDES CFF LICENSE] This level is a competitive membership, and is required for participation all competitions which count towards national domestic rankings (including open competitions such as Septemberfest). Equipment: XEL Fencing Practice Kit $220 +tax includes mask, glove, jacket, sous-plastron, pants, socks, practice foil, fencing bag. Electric kits are also available. Practice equipment can be rented from XEL for $30/month includes mask, glove, jacket, sous-plastron, practice foil. Electrical foil equipment can be rented from XEL for $30/month including electric weapon, lame and body wire. Note that for OCC and Open competitions, foil fencers will be required to purchase their own mask with a conductive bib.
