Hello, my name is Nikki Meyer, and am excited to start working with you
in your classroom. appreciate this opportunity since becoming a teacher has
been a dream of mine for years now. My passion for teaching came to me my
junior year of high school when my art teacher Mr. Damico ignited my desire to
teach. Mr. Damico is extremely laid back and creates a relaxing, comfortable
atmosphere for all his students. t was because of his commitment and love for
teaching that realized wanted to be a mentor and a teacher. Since my other
passion in life is art, my subject of choice would be an art teacher. 've been an
artist for the majority of my life and am currently double majoring in fine arts and
elementary education, even though someday hope to be an art teacher for high
school students.
come from a long line of teachers; my great grandmother, grandmother
and mother are all teachers. My mother teaches at my old elementary school,
East Amwell Township Elementary School here in New Jersey and she has also
influenced my decision to pursue a career in teaching. Now am 21 years old
and a senior at Rider University and well on my way to fulfilling my dream of
being a teacher.
Last semester had the opportunity to intern at Wicoff Elementary School
in Mrs. Miller's first grade classroom. was able to create my own lessons in
reading, writing and math to teach the children as well as get a first hand
experience watching a seasoned educator. The students taught me a lot about
my abilities as a teacher and through that experience, was able to have a better
understanding of my strengths and what need to improve on in the classroom.
