not always sufficiently appreciated, it is an important factor forfuture cooperative developments in Europe. It is essential that webegin to understand each other. Having a common vocabulary is alsoessential to be able to learn from each other, to understand the legalpractices of other countries, etc.
The European Cooperative Society is also the beginning of theconceptual harmonization of cooperatives in Europe. Theharmonization of legal structures and some basic legal concepts,such as what is a cooperative law, what is a cooperative, capital,statutes, results, etc..
The SCE has also boosted the improvement of cooperative laws indifferent countries, in order to approach to the content of theStatute. The SCE has already become a challenge for governments,experts and cooperative associations. In several states specificanalysis have been undertaken on the differences between theStatute of the SCE and national cooperative laws of the State, tryingto compare advantages and disadvantages between the two of themand propose
if necessary- the appropriate regulatoryimprovements. Some states have started on this research work, andsome of them have already made specific legal changes as a result.
