This study addresses the debate about the Israel lobby in the United States. Thediscussion begins with an analysis of the controversial article
The Israel Lobby
,published in 2006 by the Americans John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, in which arediscussed key aspects of their argument and criticisms that the authors make to theactions of the Israeli lobby, which is present, they argue, in various sectors of Americansociety as the media, think tanks, academia and politics. As a result, the study brings acritique of the key points of the debate that Mearsheimer and Walt relegated to thebackground: the identification between the American and Israeli; the relationshipbetween the two countries, the growth of anti-US sentiment and terrorism; the profile of the votes of American Jews; and the role of other lobbies. Finally, the paper ends tryingto answer if the special relationship between the two countries poses a risk to U.S.security.
