SPECIFICATION CLAUSES To be read in conjunction with the materials and workmanship specification.

The materials and workmanship specification contains alternative clauses. The Employer exercises choice by invoking the relevant clauses in the Scheme Specification. If no choice has been exercised, the choice is left to the contractor. (1-) SUBSTRUCTURE

SEE APPENDIX F 05 EXISTING SERVICES: Information relating to existing services is included in APPENDIX E 10 CONTAMINATION AND REMEDIATION WORKS All work undertaken in connection with contaminated materials must be carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of the consultant engineer/chemist/ environmental scientist. The works must be fully supervised by the consultant engineer/chemist/ environmental scientist. Consultants employed in connection with contaminated materials must be suitably experienced and qualified and must hold insurance for work in connection with contaminated materials. Any chemical analysis of samples must be undertaken by the engineer/chemist/environmental scientist and a NAMAS accredited laboratory. Any works must be approved by the Environment Agency (where required), the Local Authorities Environmental Services and the CA. On completion of any works in connection with contaminated materials a validation report must be submitted which much be approved by the Environment Agency (where required), the Local Authorities Environmental Services and the CA. The report where necessary should include the results of any additional investigations/sampling etc., undertaken to validate the remediation works and where materials have been removed from site all appropriate licenses and haulage notes. All contaminated materials removed from site must be disposed of to at a licensed waste site. (16) FOUNDATIONS: Insitu/precast concrete: Section E (16) 01 ANTI-NOISE AND VIBRATION MEASURES: Should driven piles be used ground induced vibrations from the construction works must be monitored at all times. These results should be checked against permissible levels given in BS 7385 Part 2; 1983 entitled "Evaluation & Measurement for Vibration in Buildings" in order to prevent structural damage to the adjacent/nearby buildings, roads, bridges, embankments, services and other structures.

INSULATION AND DAMP-PROOFING To be in accordance with BRE GBG 28 Part 1 April 1997. 10 ACCESS BOARDING IN ROOF SPACE Provide 8 square metres of boarding immediately adjacent to loft access hatch leading to accessible roof spaces, ensuring that any tanks or cisterns may be easily reached from ceiling hatch. PIPED SERVICES DRAINAGE BELOW GROUND As section R12. 01 ADOPTABLE DRAINAGE (SEE A33/660) All adoptable drainage to be designed and constructed to the satisfaction of the adopting authority. All drain runs under adoptable roads are to be adopted wherever possible. Levels of adoptable drainage should be maximised. Private drains must not serve more than 5 dwellings. Drain runs serving 5 or more dwellings must be adopted from the point of connection of the tenth dwelling. 02 NON-ADOPTABLE DRAINAGE As Section R12 All access covers to be as Clause 811 and to be painted with 2 coats bitumen paint to all surfaces. All hard areas to be laid to fall to gulleys fitted with heavy duty lockable hinge gratings. Gulleys fitted with heavy duty lockable hinged gratings are to be provided directly beneath all external water supplies. Access points and/or rodding points are to be provided to all changes of directions and junctions. All rainwater downpipes are to discharge directly into a gulley with an integral back inlet. Drainage channels are to be provided to all flush thresholds and ramp areas abutting the external walls of the dwelling units (positive drainage from thresholds to a surface water drain is not required).
