This week we look at our third energy centre. This is our solar plexus
energy and incorporates our will, discipline, self-esteem and
personal power. It must be mentioned that these energy centres do
not operate on a stand alone basis. In order to understand the
different levels of energy, the quality of each level and colours they
add to our lives it is important to individualize them. However in our
day to day lives they intermingle and intertwine to create the
person we are in this second, minute, hour or day.
When we were born into our world we were completely dependent
on others in our environment. As children we have no power of our
own, our families and our communities holds our power and
distributes it for us, they show us how we should think, how we
should feel about ourselves, what our religious / spiritual orientation
should be, where our place in society is supposed to be and how we
are supposed to react and interact with our surroundings.
As we grow older we start to look at where our power had been
invested for us. Ideally we then decide to explore whether the way
our energy has been invested really reflects who we are. If it does
not, we challenge and question ourselves which allows us to take
back our power from areas that no longer suit us and to place it in
areas that fit better. The ability to do this requires our solar energy,
it requires us to tap into our inner power and reach the core of who
we are as an individual.
I am sure we have all met older people who shake their heads in
disgust while saying, ‘the youths of today, they have no idea, they
have no respect, they are just running wild.’ There is a lot of excess
solar energy in our younger generation, this generation feels the
effects of having their energy invested for them in areas that have
not been uplifting or that have just not reflected who they are. They
have felt the need to take back their power, to question and to
challenge. Most of the time there is not a conscious awareness of
When this clawing back of power is misguided it then exhibits itself
in a lack of respect for others, a need to dominate and control
everything and a need to be better than, stronger than, more than
the next person. In short people develop a sort of ‘Hitler’ syndrome.
When there is not enough solar energy, there is a lack of awareness
of personal power, people then submit to the demands of the person
with the strongest will. With little fire in us we do not question or
challenge anything or anyone, we feel it is better to not make any
waves. The feeling of dissatisfaction that we get in our gut from
doing something we just did not want to do is stamped down and
When we do not take control of our own power we begin to distrust
ourselves. We procrastinate over our decision and change our minds
constantly. We think everyone else has the answer and we have
somehow gotten left in the dark without a manual. So we go around
looking for people who have a strong will and we ask them how we
should think, what we should say and how we should feel. By doing
this we continue to give our power away. If we are lucky we may ask
the questions of a strong willed person who will tell us, ‘I can’t tell
you anything you don’t know yourself. The answer to your question
is within, take a look!’ Maybe then we will get a true introduction to
The Solar centre resides between the navel and solar plexus. When
out of balance it will manifest itself in the form of ulcers, diabetes,
hypoglycaemia and digestive disorders.
