It took me a while to find my way around the mac so don't be surprised if things take longer than you think they should. 27 October 2011 13:44 mikesmallwood said... hey hey some good stuff here!!! I'm very much liking number 1-3 but mainly like 3 as it wacky and interesting (to me at least :D ) keep it up. another thing, to help me a little with some of mine is I have added a little bit of colour to get more of a feel for it, nothing fancy of corse just a little here and there. It may help to bring em to life and add another layer of interest :) but anyways, GOOD WORK !!!!!! 31 October 2011 03:22 omments: Tom Beg said... Hey Chrissie, Would it be possible to bolden these images up a little? I think some interesting shots are becoming slightly lost in the faintness. 30 October 2011 15:20 J.J.*Jolanta Jasiulionyte* said... Hey Chrissie, sorry for not leaving any comments lately. I find myself somewhat busy ..:/ But I'd be more than happy to be helpful, and we meet we could talk :] 31 October 2011 02:37 Post a Comment comments:

J.J.*Jolanta Jasiulionyte* said... I like 6 and 24 in the upper sheets, and 9 , 26 and 31 in the lower ones. simply because it feels much more like space and not just elements or illustrations. Also, I quite like how you begin explore more interesting angles in the very last thumbnails. I'd suggested to keep on that trail , cause it's just more visually excitting, provided it suits the context of the story. . Here are some examples of what I mean: http://art.scene.lt/process.php/page.workinfo;work.146653;order.;count.3;use r.157;search.; And this is Leo's, my group partner's concept, which I received as simply stricking : http://ltsang.blogspot.com/2011/10/good-wolf-concept02.html Usualy there isn't much of a secret why it is so stricking ( when you know the secret :D ) Lastly, this is what I found MOST useful when I was doing this unit, it is composition rules. They might contribute to /inspire your workflow (photography) composition rules: http://www.photographymad.com/pages/view/10-top-photographycomposition-rules I hope that makes for not being a thorough follower lately (:] 1 November 2011 15:08 mikesmallwood said... some grate stuff and i am in love with no 19 on the upper sheets as it is fun and to me very pleaseing to the eye :). Oh and very clear too and good to see you are up to date with your reviews.:) good stuff!!!! comments: J.J.*Jolanta Jasiulionyte* said... this is having sparks! I can see it could be developed in an excitting concept! Especially convincing is the use of perspective 7 November 2011 01:46 mikesmallwood said... wow, just wow. this is very good. At first glance I thought you had taken a picture of stairs and put lines through it, but wow it is really convincing. With this I expect to see an even better finale out come now lol. 7 November 2011 03:08 Chrissie Peters said...

hey thanks! I thought it was awful! I can see in my head what I want but I just can't draw it :( 7 November 2011 15:46 Sammy Butler said... Wow! I love the glow around this one! Has a great impact! Sorry you lost my company today... no sleep and cold weather has caused death to rein on me :/ 11 November 2011 04:52 Chrissie Peters said... lol I had to hassle Magda instead! Hope youre feeling better! x comments: mikesmallwood said... good stuff :) hows the maya coming with the building? 14 November 2011 06:00 Chrissie Peters said... slowly. Very slowly :( comments: mikesmallwood said... Hey hey hey, I cant see much in this but however I really really like it. It as a good feel of texture to it :) keep up the goof work !! comments: J.J.*Jolanta Jasiulionyte* said... I love the first thumbail! it starts looking a trully grand space! are you sure to use one point perspective? I'd sugest the shapes would benefit if you'd introduce two point perspective ( particulalrly for stairs in image 1) it would change it suttly, but instantly id' be picked up by the eye and look correct 17 November 2011 03:16

I can really see the deapth in these well done :) comments: George Whiley said... Nice, pretty much at the same stage as you! UV's are killing me :) 20 November 2011 18:06 comments: Nat Urwin said... Hey I love the haziness of the colours.... quite ghostly yet colourful :) how about some shadows below the objects to suggest they are places on the ground and not floaters? :) 22 November 2011 13:51 Chrissie Peters said... youre right, thankyou! Will do :) 22 November 2011 13:54 Chrissie Peters said... Heya! Make sure you check the crit submission list - just to make sure everything you

need is on your blog. Don't want to miss anything out! 20 November 2011 15:02 tutorphil said... Hey Mike - your thumbnails have lots of energy in terms of mark-making, but actually, they currently have a 'white noise' effect - i.e. that all the marks sort of compete with each other for importance, meaning I don't quite see the spatial relations or the perspective... 15 November 2011 15:55 mikesmallwood said... Thank you for your coment. Yes it is hard to see, however when I add some coloure hopfuly it will make it clearer so you will be able to see these things and if not ill have to come up with a solution. 15 November 2011 16:31 Chrissie Peters said... Mike, if you type in Word and cut and paste you can sort out all the spelling eeks. I think I see what Phil means, there is so much going on in the thumbnails and its all different shapes, different tones, and different line weights and it makes it really hard to tell whats foreground/background etc. Did you do it on different layers? Maybe lighten the background and darken the front, that can change the depth and distance quite dramatically. Also I know what you mean about not being able to see shades of grey, I put a yellow tint on mine and take it off before saving a jpeg. 17 November 2011 01:31 tutorphil said... oh - you might want to rethink your choice of font - this one is terrible! 9 November 2011 14:24 Chrissie Peters said... Some good comments here, and lots of ideas to take forward. Re spelling, I can help you with that - I am an obsessively good speller. You can always email me stuff to check. 11 November 2011 00:08 Chrissie Peters said... hiya, just thinking...try playing with some different perspectives, all your thumbnails are very ordinary...rock---space to look---rock sort of thing. There are some good ones here, about half way down. http://shanghey.wordpress.com/ 5 November 2011 11:05 Chrissie Peters said... Also, google Mountain Biking, you get some wicked perspective shots. 5 November 2011 11:07 George Whiley said...

I agree with Chrissie, perspective seems to be the key in creating a dramatic space! btw this new background seems to attract your attention away from your actual work, just a hint :) 5 November 2011 13:04 mikesmallwood said... thanks yeh i can see where you are coming from as I so lack perspective and have got a little carrierd away with the hole 'rock' thing going on :) i will look that up and see what i can comeup with. I have done a lot more drawings today and I think they are all going to have the same underling problem :(. so thanks for mentioning it and pointing me to somthing to look at thanks :) comments: tutorphil said... ... and already I can begin to read this image as an environment! 28 October 2011 10:29 mikesmallwood said... thanks :) 28 October 2011 10:36 George Whiley said... really nice mike! The simpleness of the image makes it that more dramatic! 28 October 2011 12:22 mikesmallwood said... cheers. Yeah I quite like how its quite simple. Though I would have never have done it this way if we actually had all the tablets to go around as I was using a mouse so I could not draw very good and used the lasso which worked well I think. 28 October 2011 12:26 Simon Holland said... Very strong Mike, I'll send you this way for some more inspiration: http://calumalexanderwatt.blogspot.com/ and

The little people at the top make it look vast, very dramatic! 31 October 2011 06:59 mikesmallwood said... :) your the 1st so far to pick that up as i asked a friend what she thought of it and she could not tell what it was(which ill have to address later on) 1 November 2011 05:09 comments: tutorphil said... To know where you are going, you have to know where you have come from. The first step is the longest stride. One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. These are true on every level. You reap What you sow so start sowing and do not stop. amen to that, Mike - BE AMAZING!!!! 25 October 2011 11:50 Chrissie Peters said... Hello Creative Partner! Hope your computer man turned up and you can now use everything! It should help loads with reading the PDFs of the story, i've found the highlight-and-grab-in-pdf-thing really useful. I'm not in today cos I'm poorlyflu and don't want to splutter over everyone in the lecture theatre so I will see you tomorrow for Maya. Which I will enjoy. 27 October 2011 03:29 Chrissie Peters said... Hiya, have you checked the crit list yet? Make sure you put up your Maya, photoshop, perspective exercises, and 100 thumbnails - its easy to miss some of the little things in the rush to get film reviews/essay done! 20 November 2011 14:58

Post a Comment Chrissie Peters said... Lovely! Maybe needs another lightsource just to show up the detailed balconies? They are so good, don't let them go to waste in the dark! 17 November 2011 01:37 tutorphil said... agreed, George - think like a lighting designer now; yes, you've 'built' your set, but now you need to light it to ensure that it really pops - some uplighting from (fires?) below would lend real drama (especially as the light would reveal cracks between the planking etc, lending further interest). The only thing that still doesn't convince or communicate is the materiality of the hut cover - from what is it made? Its fabrication isn't clear, and I think in a world which is 'hand-crafted' and built, you should commit to this detailing. 17 November 2011 06:45 mikesmallwood said... dude so brill work going on here! I cant help but think I would like to have seen a bit of a background with this. I know its a development and its a very good one but for me the house it self gets me excited as its really good but then i look around it and it kind of fades away. If you can get that amount of interest as a hole your onto a winner!!!!! :) 22 November 2011 03:18 mikesmallwood said... Me like very much. they remind me of the film and star wars funny enough. Good work 7 November 2011 03:20 mikesmallwood said... forgot to mention, i very much like the very top one as you can see both inside and out. :) 7 November 2011 03:21 OllieNicholls said... Wow George! you definitely have a flair for drawing environment. Maybe you have found your niche :) Chrissie Peters said... Lovely drawings...can we see your all thumbnails? are you ok with your film reviews and research and stuff? mikesmallwood said... some more sexy stuff here!!!has a grate feel and atmosphere as phill rightly pointed out however it feels a bit to smooth if you get me. Like the rocks for example you could do with a bit more texture and then i think it would go from sexy to epic :) keep up the good work ments: Chrissie Peters said... Phil will say check your punctuation! 1 November 2011 05:26 mikesmallwood said... hey partner! Im only seeing one review so far and no more brill thumbnails!! I know you have done more as i saw you doing them :) you need to get everything up here so i can see and coment. and get your reviews done if you have not all ready. as we have seem 4 films so far so try and get it all done by weekend or somthing, give your self a deadline or else you will fall behind and have a hard stressful time of getting it done last minete and we do not want that do we:) 3 November 2011 12:06 mikesmallwood said... some sexy stuff here. Im loving the little things here in your pictures like the wooden bridge that is falling apart. It also massively comes across as organic yet still feels warm and homie. GOOD WORK !!! 31 October 2011 03:31 Chrissie Peters said... Mmm I love the little details too -and its really quirky. You would be a great illustrator.
