This DVD cover follows the principle of thirds.

The first thing we see on the cover between the hotspots is an image of the main characters. In the image you can see the main character in full colour meaning she is the dominant character in the DVD. Its clear the she is a witch because she is holding a black cat, and that is stereotypical of a witch. You can also see ghost like pictures the picture behind the main character. This shows us that these two characters are in the program a lot. You are then drawn to the main title Sabrina the teenage witch. This is situated under the main character to show us that her name is Sabrina. This then supports that she is the main character. The writing of Sabrina is in quite magical. Its also a feminine font in pink. This program would appeal more to younger females due to the font and the main character. Its The Movie That Started It All. is the next thing you look at. This is important because its the title of the DVD, so then you know what part of the collection you have as there will be many seasons for Sabrina The Teenage Witch. The clothing that Sabrina is wearing is feminine. She is wearing a white/creamy dress. She also has a flower tiara in her hair. This shows that she is a girly girl. If she were wearing a t-shirt and jeans it would make her more masculine. Because she is dressed like a girly girl it, again, appeals to the younger female target group.

The characters are smiling to show that they are having a good time, this will help the DVD seem appealing to the audience. Showing girls on the cover also demonstrates the fact it is a programme targeted towards female.
