1. Connecting the Express TV tuner card to the notebook.

1. First insert the Express TV tuner card in Notebook’s Express slot.


2. Then connect the Infrared receiver of the TV tuner card to the Notebook’s USB
ports.
3. Then Connect the AVI cable set to the TV tuner card and Connect another side of
the cables to your TV Setup box.

You can also connect the Antenna provided along with the TV tuner card. It can receive
the Free Analog/Digital TV channels. It can’t receive the paid TV channels. However,
Connecting setup box cables is essential to the TV tuner card in order to watch TV
programs. It is almost impossible to watch TV programs just with the Antenna provided
with this TV tuner card. So, make sure that you connect the setup box cables to the TV
tuner card to watch the TV programs on the notebook.

Few FAQ:

1. Is it possible to watch TV programs without connecting any kind of cables


and by connecting Antenna only?
Ans: No. It is not possible. You need to connect the Setup box cables to the TV
tuner card.

2. Is it possible to use Remote controller without connecting the Infrared


receiver for the Remote?
Ans: No. It is not possible. Connecting the infrared receive is must if you want to
use the TV tuner card remote.

How to watch TV on Notebook.


We can watch the TV programs on the notebook using Media center and Quickplay
software.

Setting the TV program guide using the Media center:

Use the following steps to configure the Media Center software for downloading the
correct TV program guide information:

1. Turn on the computer and connect to the Internet.


2. Double-click the Media Center icon on the desktop or press the green button on
the remote control to open the Media Center software
3. Click My TV , Settings , and then click Guide Setup .
4. Click Change Lineup .
5. Click Next . A Terms of Service screen appears.
o If agreeing to the terms, select I Agree , and then click Next .
o If agreeing to the terms is not desired, select I don't agree , and then click
Next .

NOTE: Not agreeing to the terms, television recording and certain program guide
features will not be available.

6. Click Next , and then enter the Zip or Postal code. Make sure that you are logged
onto the Internet.
7. Click Next . The television provider information automatically downloads. Click
Next when downloading has finished.
8. Select the television signal provider from the list that appears.
9. Click Next . The television program guide for the current times downloads
automatically.
10. When the program guide has finished downloading, click Next . The setup of the
program guides is now complete.

NOTE: To verify that the TV programs are correct for the selected area, go to the
ZAP2it Web site and type in your zip code.
Downloading the program guide

Use the following steps to download the latest TV programming guide information for
the specific area:

1. Turn on the computer and connect to the Internet.


2. Double-click the Media Center icon on the desktop or press the green button on
the remote control to open the Media Center software.
3. Click My TV , Settings , and then click Guide Setup .
4. Click Get Guide Data .
5. Click Yes and the program guide will automatically download from the Internet.

Configuring the program guide


The TV program guide initially displays all available TV channels. Use the following
steps to select the TV channels that are to be displayed in the TV program guide:

1. Turn on the computer and connect to the Internet.


2. Double-click the Media Center icon on the desktop or press the green button on
the remote control to open the Media Center software.
3. Click My TV , Settings , and then click Guide Setup .
4. Click Customize .
5. Select the TV channels that you would like see displayed in the TV program
guide. A check mark appears next to each selected channel.
6. Click Next when you are finished selecting channels.

Reference Button Function
1 Standby Puts the PC into a power reduced state called standby . An LED located
under the Standby button blinks when the remote control is transmitting
a signal to the remote sensor. It is needed to press Standby for 1–2
seconds.
2 DVD Menu Opens My DVD title menu in Media Center.
3 Music Opens My Music window.
4 Radio Starts FM Radio .
5 Record Records selected television program and stores it on the hard disk.
6 REW ( Rewind ) moves the media backward.
7 Pause Pauses audio and video tracks and live or recorded TV programs.
8 Replay Moves the media backward 7 seconds.
9 TV Starts My TV .
10 Pictures Starts My Pictures .
11 Videos Starts My Videos .
12 Play Plays the selected media.
13 Stop Stops the selected media.
14 FWD ( Fast-forward ) moves media forward (press button for three different
speeds).
15 Skip Moves media forward (for example, 30 seconds in videos and live TV, or
one music track).

16 Back Returns PC to the previous window within Media Center.
17 Arrow Buttons move the cursor to navigate within all Media Center windows. They
also move forward and backward through slide-show.
18 More Displays available information about a selected media file and displays
(i) more information and options. For example, pressing More while viewing
Recorded TV will enable you to quickly zoom in on the picture, press More
while listening to music will enable you to quickly create a music CD.
19 OK Selects the desired action or window option. It acts as the Enter key.

20 Media Opens Media Center to the Main Menu .

21 Volume Increases ( + ) and decreases ( – ) sound.
22 Live TV Is a shortcut to the full-screen view of live TV. It also moves to the
current point in a live TV program after pausing live TV.
23 Guide Opens the Television Program Guide to display available TV channels
and programs to watch and record.
24 Clear Deletes the selection and works as the Backspace key does on a
keyboard.
25 CH/PG Up ( + ) and down ( – ) change the TV channel or move pages up and
down, depending on available options. They also move to the next
DVD chapter. The name of the TV show and channel display.
26 Mute Turns computer sound off. The word Mute is displayed on the Media
Center screen when Mute is turned on.
27 Recorded Opens the Recorded TV window.

28 0 to 9 , # , * Are the numeric keypad buttons to change channels or enter text into
the Media Center search or text box.
29 Enter Selects the desired action or window option. In full-screen mode, press
Enter to jump to the last channel that was being watched.
30 Print Prints the on-screen items.

How to use the TV tuner card with Quickplay.( on Vista notebooks only)
Click on start and type Qucikplay in the search box (this box is just above the start
button). Then click on Quickplay on the top.

2. Click on TV icon (3rd icon from left). Then Quickplay will start scanning the
channels and shows all available list on the screen. You can proceed with the on
screen instructions.
