As many as 450 Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officers belonging to ranks of junior administrative grade (JAG), senior administrative grade (SAG) and higher administrative grade (HAG) who were serving in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) & Mahanagar Telecom Ltd (MTNL) have been relieved to join the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). This has been going on since November 9, 2011. All of them were selected by the UPSC.

As many as 300 Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officers belonging to ranks of junior administrative grade (JAG), senior administrative grade (SAG) and higher administrative grade (HAG)have so far reported to Janpath located Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), New Delhi.Hitherto, they were serving in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) & Mahanagar Telecom Ltd (MTNL) have been relieved to join the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). They have no job to do.Interestingly all of them have on sharing basis taken accommodation in Delhi & in each flat three to four ITS officers are staying. Their daily routine is to report at TEC in the morning & they have to sit idle as there is no work allocated to them.

In the wake of the decision taken by the Department of Telecom (DoT) to repatriate nearly 1600 UPSC selected officers of the Indian Telecom Service (ITS) from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) & Mahanagar Telecom Ltd

(MTNL) ,working of both will be hit.

Petition filed by ITS Association in Delhi High Court dismissed


A petition filed by the ITS Association against their repatriation from BSNL has been dismissed by the Delhi High Court. The ITS Association has stated in their petition that the terms and conditions for the repatriation are discriminatory. The Delhi High Court has also ordered that the ITS Association should pay Rs.30,000/- towards cost.
