Dear Friends,Whew! It has been a busy, event-filled summer; Romania ServiceProject, bowling, canoeing, scavenger hunts, movie marathons, GermanAmerican Camp, and sharing JESUS! Now the school year inHeidelberg is in full swing! Our clubs have started up again for theschool year. Our theme for this semester’s clubs is “Hollywood Club.”We are using clips from popular blockbuster movies to illustrate adeeper, biblical truth. This week we played a hilarious clip from themovie

to talk about anger and more importantly forgiveness. Thetopic of forgiveness led into a discussion of how much each one of usneeds God’s forgiveness. Forty students left having heard a very clear gospel presentation. Praise the Lord!We have also started a new discipleship program called Red Letter Sundays. Every Sunday evening, the chapel family gets together for dinner, and after dinner then breaks into groups for studies. This iscalled Christian Campus, and it has been a big part of the HeidelbergChapel for a while. At the beginning of this school year, Club Beyondwas asked to partner with Christian Campus to provide a “youth group”type experience for the teens whose families attend chapel and ChristianCampus. That’s where Red Letter Sunday (RLS) comes in. We take themiddle school and high school students and have a time of worshipfollowed by a talk on some of the “Red Letters” (the words of Christ andwhat they mean to us) in the New Testament and then have a smallgroup discussion time! We are very excited to see how God will usethese times in the coming months to reach many teens in Heidelberg, and help them grow in their faith! On Columbus Day Weekend, we took 22 high school students toL.E.A.D. (Leadership Evangelism And Discipleship), our annualspiritual growth retreat. Six different communities throughoutEurope brought students to this retreat, put on by FranciscanUniversity. This retreat was an intense weekend full of great talkson topics such as “Worship - What We’re Made For,” “Prayer - TheHeart of a Christian,” and “Rooted in Community.” Malcolm, asenior in high school who is a popular, athletic type and raised in aChristian family, was in Austin’s small group. He's struggled withhis own walk for years and was headed down the wrong pathwhen his mom signed him up (unbeknownst to Malcolm) for L.E.A.D. He was very upset when his mom walked up to him on
