HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Bill 2009

HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Bill 2009

Ratings: (0)|Views: 20|Likes:
The proposed HIV/AIDS prevetion Bill is yet to be tabled before parliament of Uganda. The Bill punishes intentional spread of HIV/AIDS, provides for voluntary testing and counselling and compulsory testing. Challanges with the Bill is that it is likely to target sex workers and LGTBI Communities in Uganda who are considered illegal. It is also likely to increase stigma and discrimination by those found HIV/AIDS+ since it has a potential of forcing pregnant women to test for HIV/AIDS without mechanisms for forcing their partners to test
