1. Have your child read to you every night for at least 15 minutes 2. Work on sounding out words 3. Work on vowel sounds 4. Work on clapping the parts in a word 5. Make flashcards of weekly words and vocabulary words. 6. Have your child retell the story after reading it. Ask them the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Also have them tell you the characters, setting, and the problem/solution in a story. 7.Ask your child what their favorite part or character was in the story, and why. 8. Model fluency with your child. 9. Have your child point to words as they read so you can help them with the troubled words. 10. Read decodable books that are sent home daily.
