2 pre-meeting
Dmitri and Logan met before the meeting, watch-ing various educational videos about large scaleverimculture.
Compost sells at $300 per ton in bulk, or$10,000 per ton retail.
1 two-way trip from Toronto to Ivanhoe inmost energy efficient car is $30, maintenacefee $50 per month. $170 for 4 trips a month.
would likely have to go there once a week,and stay overnight, so working there 2 daysa week. At minimum wage that would be$700 a month per worker.
With 5 tons a month, can get $1,500 permonth, enough to cover cost of one worker,and generate near 60% profit.
Of the organic input, some is used as en-ergy, 2/3 becomes compost.

Nash: saw property, interested in wormcomposting, and living there
Dmitri: worm compost good for garden. in-put to other business, organic low invest-ment in contrast to biodiesel
Nash: green houses 50x60ft 2 available and20x20ft 4 available. having metal framewith plastic 6mm thick windows. watersprinkler systems available.
Alena: will it be enough for winter?
Dmitri: active heating just in case, passiveshould suffice mostly.
Nash: half-circle dome, quickest easiest tobuild, low price, and tractors available.

Nash: what do you want to do? Can makebuilding without plumbing or electricity,though at least a 5 acre plot.
Dmitri: community area important
Nash: early bird gets the worm, we a setgroup. if someone else come later, they paymore, as value increased. stage is set.
Joel: what is the value of the property?
Nash: investment calculation includingcommercial zoning, is $400,000. fencingand gates increases value. builder hasdrawings and model. price at model stage,lower than at later stage. Nash has a cor-poration, but by himself.
Dmitri: so by being here we increase value?
Nash: it’s all in the paperwork.
Dmitri: prefers practical value of trees,trails, and is not planning on selling.
Nash: membership fee
Logan: in ecovillage businesses provide in-come, new members can join for ”free” byproviding their effort to the business. someeco-villages have large building with manyrooms for residents.
Dmitri: visited whole village, most of therooms are empty, as price equivalent tocity-condo, people use tents and trailers in-stead.
Nash: Generating money have to pay thebill. water from well, and working with na-ture.
Dmitri: it’s an incremental process
Nash: has truck, and clients in scarborough
Joel: composition, upfront costs, process inwhich we get involved.
Nash: preliminary cost involvement, timefor contributing ideas and vision.
Joel: what is available?
Nash: talking about shares in the property
Dmitri: if some people sell shares, andsomeone else buys that’s doesn’t use theproperty well
Nash: we concieve constitutions and policy,if natural money then people stay.
Joel: constitution, if sell share, can be sell-ing to outsider then.
Nash: making money but are natural peo-ple. first-step is to get worms for 4-5 acres.
Dmitri: few pounds of worms, multiplyvery fast.
Nash: 5 acre, 250 (300) tons, 3 months.Can get machines.
Dmitri: that’s ambitious, better to startsmall.
Logan: worms require specific conditions tolive, on large scale, small issues, could bevery costly. It’s good to diversify our port-folio, for multiple income streams.
Nash: Community everyone happy doingwhat they do good.
Dmitri: not as much money, but beautiful.
Nash: can increase share in property aspayment for services. have organic her-itage seeds from India. if more than 10x10ftneeds permit. property house has woodstove.
Alena: 2.5 acre, live in community.

Dmitri: for me acerage depends on commonarea.

Alena: what is the monthly payment?
Nash: minimum payment is $450 a year, or$38 a month.

Alena: how much does it cost to split off apiece of property?
Nash: it would cost $2,600 to section off 5acres.
Joel: isn’t it too far ahead, for residentialcomponent?
Dmitri: people need land to build their ownhouse.
Nash: yes
Dmitri: I’ve seen in successful communi-ties, cars are in a parking lot near street,and community is mostly pedestrian.
Alena: road access is required to each homefor fire-truck.
Logan: can make paths large enough forcars, but have keep them off limits to cars,except on special occasions.
Logan: based on the biological cell, weshould have a community library or planingcenter, a community workshop or creativecenter, a community logistics or postal cen-ter, and various community food stations.vermiculture and garden products, couldthen be packaged and shipped.
Joel: how about the designs from Garnet’spresentation?
Dmitri: Garnet said he’d like to get in-volved, we’ll arrange something.
Dmitri: what are some practical steps wecan take within the next month?
Nash: minutes for meetings 2 and 3. con-firmations of compost and greenhouse. anote from each participant what able tocontribute? what people want to do? firststep is hardest, then it will be easiesr, nextyear decemeber, we can be one of a kind inontario.

Nash: menonite do much construction workin winter, as they don’t like to sweat.
Joel: selling home, it may provide financialsupport

Nash: just worm compositng is buig busi-ness with few competitors.
Joel: what is needed for compost?
Dmitri: compost needs 2 kinds of compo-nents1. carbon category, can be paper, leaves,woodchips, dung2. nutritious category, most vegankitchen food scraps, can also use greenplants.3. avoid citrus, root vegetables, meat,dairy.
