From the Editor...

Last month, a man contacted me wanting to write some articles for this paper. He had a website where he had posted some of his writings, so I checked it out. I welcome Armando Conde as a new writer for the LCS. He is a resident of Kingsville and has agreed to begin distributing some of our papers there, so I not only welcome Armando (Mando) but also welcome more readers in Kingsville. See Mandos article about the banking cartel on the right side of page 4. There were many events in the area as well as in nearby areas., giving anyone who wanted to taste food, cook food or just enjoy being outdoors on a beautiful day an opportunity to do so. Note the unusual number of events coming up in November. It looks like there is something for everyone. (See Upcoming Events! I accidentally discovered there is an election on November 8. It involves voting for or against ten state constitutional amendments. It is important to go the polls and vote. The proposed amendments are printed below. Certain grassroots organizations suggest we vote against all but Propostion 10 , since nine of the ten propositions call for shifting of or increases in government spending or tax burden, and that it is best to just say no to all of them. Personally, I fall into the just say no camp, especially since many of these potentially increase property taxes. No matter what your plans for Thanksgiving Day are, stay well, drive safely and give thanks for that half-full glass rather than bemoaning one that is half empty. Constitutional Amendment Election Nov. 8

Texans will be asked to vote on 10 proposed amendments to the state constitution. Here's a brief description of the proposals, along with commentary from We Texans: Amendment 1: Provides a property tax homestead exemption for the surviving spouse of a disabled veteran. Read the legislation here (SJR14) While the property tax is a fundamentally flawed means of funding local government that we are working to completely eliminate, it is the method that is used in Texas today. Though well intended, this proposition adds yet another exemption to the long list of property tax-outs and distorts justice by shifting the cost of local government to the shoulders of others in the community. Amendment 2: Provides for the issuance of an additional $6 billion in debt in the form of general obligation bonds by the Texas Water Development Board. Read the legislation here (SJR4) This proposal would create a revolving line of credit to the Texas Water Development Board. This line of credit would be secured by the Texas taxpayer. Government debt should be taken very seriously and approved on an as needed basis by the voters at the time of the need. To establish a revolving line of debt for an appointed state board and saddle Texans in perpetuity with that debt is unjust. fund the issuance of bonds or notes to develop blighted areas. Read the legislation here (SJR 63) Under current law, cities are authorized to use property tax revenue to secure loans to fund the development of blighted areas. This proposal would extend that authority to counties. This proposition continuing to incentivize local governments with the lure of increased property tax revenue is a recipe for further eminent domain abuse. Amendment 5: Authorizes cities and counties to enter into contracts that are longer than one year without having to create a tax or (sinking) fund to pay for those future obligations. Read the legislation here (SJR 26) Currently, cities and counties may not create debt unless a tax is levied that is sufficient to pay the principle and interest on the debt. Cities and counties frequently enter into interlocal contracts whose term is less than one year because the costs associated with those agreements are funded from the current budget. To enter into a contract that extends beyond the current year would have the effect of creating a debt that will carry to future tax years. Debt of that type should require voter approval on a case by case basis and not be permitted unilaterally through a constitutional amendment.

Old San Patricio Black Pot Cookers
by Janis Westmoland Old San Patricio Black Pot Cookers held their Second Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration at the Old San Patricio Museum on Saturday October 15, 2011. The Black Potters cooked many delicious dishes for our visitors to sample to include Camp Bread, Beer Bread, Cowboy Stew, Chili, Shepherds Pie and much, much more. We had a wonderful turn out through out the day; many of the visitors who attended are planning to join our group. The Black Potters meet every third Saturday of the month; our next DOG [Dutch Oven Gathering] will be Saturday, November 19, time and place to be announced. We are having such a great time learning how to cook in these beautiful black pots and the best thing of all is getting to know and share with others who are just as passionate as we are. Lagarto Community Club News

by DeOtta Meyer ...A lot of business was covered during the meeting including the assignment of jobs for our annual craft bazaar which will be held on November 12th. There will be a bake sale, as usual, and we will be serving Frito Pies. Once again we will be selling our cookbooks and the history book prepared by Hattie Mae Hinnant New. If you are not acquainted with the history of the area and you have an interest, you should come on over and pick up one of these books. Work assignments were also made for our booth at the George West Story Fest (November 5th). We will be selling our books and a few of our crafts. This should be a fun day for us with all the booths and activities to explore when we arent working! It was decided to have another Vendors Sale on the 3rd of December. This gives us an opportunity to put our craft items back out for the public (in case you missed the bazaar) and it gives a chance for others in our area to sell their crafts, foods, or rummage items. Spaces can be purchased for $20 by calling Jessica Keese at 547-3663. Raffle tickets sales are going well. Items listed are (1) barbeque grill, (2) quilt, (3) crocheted tablecloth, (4) a $75 gift certificate for Academy. You can purchase your tickets from any of our club members or visit our booth in George West. The Food Handlers Course, given by the Live Oak County Health Department, has been scheduled for November 8th at the Lagarto School beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is open to any of our neighbors who want
to attend and because we would like to have a head count, please give Lucy Cantu a call at 384-1527. The Lagarto Community Club was established for charitable, educational and historical purposes and with this in mind a group of ranchers came together in 1970 and purchased the Lagarto School in order to preserve a little of Lagarto history and have a place for club members to meet and develop the talents of the membership. Our main income is from the bazaar sales and the school is available to be rented for that party or reception you have been planning. You can contact any one of us for information. I think there will be something for everyone's tastes. I am amazed at the quality of the artists in our area. So come out on November 12th between the hours of 9 AM- 3 PM and see for yourselves. Great ideas for Christmas shopping. Our recipe book is completed and ready for sale. They will be available the day of the Bazaar for $14.00 each. Our members have worked hard on putting this together and I do not think you will be disappointed. We are in the process of raising money to re-equip our new truck with many necessary emergency equipment. Our next meeting will be on November 8th. Then there is lying, bearing false witness. (The 9th Comandment.) Some people are so in the habit of lying they no longer remember what the truth is. They lie either to cover up something wrong they have done or to manipulate people into behaving in some certain way. The gossip who contacts her acquaintances chiefly to try to obtain the latest new gossip she can spread. Cheaters fall not only into the liar category but often also into the envy and stealing category. They want what someone else has, and they cheat and lie to get it for themselves or to get it for someone important in achieving their goals. It is fairly apparent these days that we have evil wrongdoers in control of this country and most countries around the world. They are cheaters, liars, gossipers, manipulators, and some are adulterers, traitors and worse. They have sold their souls to the devil in exchange for power, fame and money, all of which they may perceive as things that will bring them happiness. They care not for you or me or anyone else, only themselves. While certainly it is important to love oneself, those who seek power and fame have stepped into the realm of being narcissistic, believing they are more important than anyone else. The power, the fame, the applause -- all of these feed the ego of the narcissist. It is like a drug, and they need bigger and bigger doses as time goes by in order to get the same high and, sadly, to assuage their deep feelings of lonliness and disconnectedness. This kind of individual is not always found only in the highest levels of government. It can exist on very low levels, such as churches, community organizations, PTAs, local governments,volunteer organizations and civic organizations. This is sometimes evidenced when someone who lost an election for a high office i n t h e o r g a n i z a t i o n secretly, or in conspiracy with supporters, sabotages a fundraising event by not performing their job adequately. This, again, is wrong and immoral. It has the potential to hurt many more people than just the person on whom the vendetta is planned. No matter whether you believe it or not, this country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs about moraility and righteousness, and there is plenty of evidences. Jesus summed up Gods law when he stated that a summation of the law was in the statement to love God with all your heart and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. If a person loves his neighbor (presumably meaning all those he or she comes in contact with, lives near, works with or in todays world lives in the same congressional district), he or she will abide by the philosophy that my rights end where yours begin. Beyond that a person should be free to live life he sees fit. When it comes to electing people for school baord, for county commissioner, for sheriff, for state representatives and senators, for U. S. representives and senators and for President of the United States, we must vote for those who represent what is right and good in the Judeo-Christian trandition and not for those who represent wrong and evil. This poses the question What is good and what is evil when it comes to government? Socialism, Communism, Facism and any form of See Good Continued on Page 5 ica. His mind and heart are certainly in the right place, and I doubt if he can be influenced significantly by the powers. But untill we hear more details about his 9-9-9 plan, I sit here and wonder where I will get the money to pay a 9% sales tax over and above the state and local sales taxes. If I need a new power yard tool that is priced at $100, its cost to me out of my pocketbook will be pretty close to $118. Cain seems to think that the flat 9% income tax will give all of us so much money that we will more than be able to cover that sales tax. While that is more than likely true for those who have moderate to excellent incomes, what is it going to do to those with lower incomes who are barely scraping by as it is? Moreover, many people will pay with a charge card and end up paying interest on the product plus the state tax plus the federal tax. I read extensively about the candidates and about the mainstream Republican party. The consensus of opinion of most of the authors I have read say that America is in such terrible shape that it is not going to matter if a conventional mainstream Republican is elected in 2012 over Obama. Everything will continue to get worse even if it temporarily gets better. The worst candidates to vote for in the primary are those who seem to be favored by the mainstream media. Ron Paul is still ignored by the media. The average person getting news from television knows little or nothing about Ron Paul. When the so-called debates are televised, he is ignored as much as possible. This is intentional, apparently. The powers that be and the mainstream media, controlled by the powers are scared to death of Ron Paul because they know he represents death to big government, death of corporate cronyism, death to the far left progressive movement and death to socialism and communism. The best overall article I have read regarding Ron Paul yet not written by his campaign staff comes from The Daily Bell, an online newsletter to which I subscribe and read on a daily basis. The Banking Cartel: The History and Philosophy Behind Our Current Monetary Policies
by Armando Conde We must go forward cautiously and consolidate each acquired position, because already the inferior social stratum of society is giving unceasing signs of agitation. Therefore, prudence dictates to us a line of conduct that seems to give in to the will of the people, until the execution of our plans be well-enough established for us to be able to declare our intentions without having to fear any organized resistance. To understand why our country is in the economic state we see today, we must first understand the philosophies and practices which the banking elite live by. The opening quote comes from an 1892 issue of United States Bankers Magazine. Notice how the author of the article condescendingly refers to the public as the inferior social stratum; and how the bankers must seem to give in to the will of the people. The author continues his blatant disregard for the people by suggesting using the courts to legally further their agenda and strip the people of their property. He also cites that using violence would be premature and how they must trouble each party (Republicans/Democrats) with issues which do not concern them. The words which angered me the most were: Our top leaders are perfectly aware of the truth. They are presently working at establishing an imperialism of the capital to rule the world. But while they are implementing this plan, they must keep the people busy with political antagonisms. Our current monetary policy was implemented with Woodrow Wilsons signature of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. That same year also brought us the 16th and 17th amendments to the Constitution. It was the dreadful year America lost her sovereignty and became enslaved to the banking elite. Eighty percent ownership of the Feds most powerful branch, the New York Federal Reserve, is owned by just eight families. They are the Goldman Sachs, the Rockefellers, the Lehmans, the Kuhn Loebs, the Warburgs, the Israel Moses Seifs, and the wealthiest family of them all, the Rothschilds. The Rothschild dynastys rise to wealth and power began when Mayor Amschel Rothschild, a money changer in Germany during the 18th century, learned that loaning to governments reaps greater profits and by having the security of taxes on the people to repay the loans was the greatest collateral any lender could ever imagine. Mayor had five sons whom, in the 1790s, were spread throughout Europe expanding the family business. One of the most noted of the brothers was Nathan Mayer Rothschild who was sent to England in 1798 with 20,000. It was not until the Battle of Waterloo that Nathan seized control of England when he received word of Napoleons defeat, ahead of anyone else. He then began to sell off his stocks, implying England had lost the battle. With the fear of their stock being worthless, the people began a selling frenzy. Now, for pennies on the dollar, Nathan began to buy the worthless stock. By the time word had arrived of Englands victory, it was too late. N. M Rothschild boasted that it was the greatest business he had ever done. Nathans arrogance is quoted in the following text: "I care not what puppet is placed upon the throne of England to rule the Empire on which the sun never sets. The man that controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply." Alexander Hamilton, who had close ties with the Rothschilds, worked to help establish the First Bank of The United States created in 1791. Hamilton went on to become the first Secretary of the Treasury in 1798. Although Thomas Jefferson served as President from 1801-1809 and loathed the private central bank, nothing could be done about the bank until the 20 year charter came to an end. After the central banks charter expired, the public outcry was to deny another charter. Five months after the bill to renew the banks charter failed to pass in Congress, The United States found themselves fighting the War of 1812. It is imperative for us to reflect upon Jeffersons prediction of allowing a centralized private bank. "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered." It was not until 1816 that Congress was once again coerced into setting up another central bank with another 20 year charter. This would be the Second Bank of the United States. In 1828 Andrew Jackson was nominated for President and was swept into office. Andrew Jackson, who despised the banking powers of England, called them a den of vipers and vowed by the Eternal God to defeat them. In 1832, Nicholas Biddle, head of the Second Bank of The United States, decided to try and renew the banks charter early hoping that Jackson would not want a fight with bankers right before his reelection. Although Congress passed the bill, Jackson vetoed the charter. Biddle was infuriated and even threatened to cause a depression. By restricting the money supply, Nicholas Biddle believed that only widespread suffering would have any effect on Congress to restore the banks charter. Biddles threat came to fruition and the people found themselves in a depression; however, the people sided with Jackson and the banks charter was not renewed. It is important to note that an attempt on Jacksons life followed the denial of a new charter for the bank. While on his death-bed, Jackson was asked what his greatest achievement was. His reply: I killed the bank. Even with Jacksons victory over the banking elite, he still feared their tenacity to control our countrys currency. In 1837, in Jacksons farewell address he raised the question, Have designs already been formed to sever the union? It took no more than a quarter century for Jacksons worries to come to life when seven states seceded from the union and the Civil War began. Morality: Good and Evil, Right and Wrong

At the risk of sounding naive and simplistic, there are forces for good and what is right in this world and opposing forces for what is evil and wrong. Most people have some ideas about what is evil and wrong, but their ideas about it are usually expressed in a global sort of way, such as big government or criminals or terrorists. Their ideas of what is good and right perhaps include, their friends, their relatives, their church leaders and perhaps those who help the poor or the elderly for no recompence. Some people, when it comes to their ideas of what is good and right even extend to themselves thoughts that they themselves are good and righteous, and many of them are both, at least most of the time or when it suits them. These folks are often church-goers and consider going to church every time the doors are open as a sure sign of their righteousness. Many people whose actions are immoral and even blatantly evil excuse themselves for their actions with various twists in their thinking that their actions were justified because in the end a friend, relative, cohort, employer, benefactor or some animal or tree was benefitted by the wrongdoing. The Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments speak very clearly as to what is right and wrong and what is good and evil, especially in the Ten Commandments. Morality starts with the individual, not with abstract beings or governments. If there are moral individuals of impeccable character elected to public offices who, in turn, appoint moral individuals to support positions, then there is at least a small chance for a good, just, moral government. Many people believe themselves to be just and moral and yet engage in nefarious schemes, manipulations and gossiping among their associates. Evil does as evil thinks. Righteous does as righteousness thinks. An example of evil and wrong-sidedness is unfounded gossip spread by people who believe they have something to gain by spreading the particular topic of gossip. Again on the level of the individual, there are those who engage in schemes based on envy and lust for something someone else owns. An example might be, when one is jealous of the PTA President, to make attempts to discredit that individual by subtle but effective sabotaging of fund-raising events. This is fairly easy to do by either spreading rumors or by volunteering to help run the event and then subtly doing a a terrible job of it without anyone ever really knowing you did it. It was her fault! She is a bad leader! A bad organizer! I should be president, not her! See how badly she failed? Maybe we even need a man for the job (such as my husband)! Examples are plentiful because they happen every day in every walk of life. Another that comes to my mind is what I call the Who does she/he think she is? syndrome, again, a problem of envy. Recalling the 2008 election, I remember that I spoke with many people who believed in their hearts that Ron Paul was right about everything and had the character, determination and principles necessary to lead this country out of the economic disaster that had recently began (if you believe it didnt happen nearly a hundred years ago). When I would ask if they were going to vote for Ron Paul, the answer was invariably No, because he cant possibly win the Republican nomination. What happened, as I am sure you recall, is that John McCain, no doubt chosen by those who considered him second most desirable after Obama, became the Republican candidate. I did not vote for him for the Republican candidate. I voted for Ron Paul. In the upcoming election cycle, just as we saw in 2008, we are bombarded with polls and with media talking heads promoting those in the lead in the opinion polls while ignoring those who are not what they consider top tier candidates. News Flash: The talking heads are told by their respective network directors who to promote and who to ignore. So, in essence, we have government by opinion polls and the media. The media loves Mitt Romney. He is certifiably a RINO (Republican in Name Only). He represents centrist-statist Republicans, who are basically a left wing of the Republican party that believes in big government, just a slightly different version. He has spent about five years running for President. The media and the powers that be are certain that even if he can beat Obama, he will not be very different from Obama. He will support more government control, more government regulation and genuinely seems to believe that he and he alone has all the answers to the nations problems. Recently the media loved Rick Perry who all of us Texans know as full of fluff, buff and stuff. He is a crony capitalist if there ever was one. Need I remind you of the Gardasial fiasco or the toll roads and TransTexas highway fiasco? Fortunately for all, his lack of basic intelligence is now killing him in the polls. Rick Perry seems to believe that he created jobs in Texas. New Flash: It was not Rick Perry. It was the already-existing Texas policies regarding taxes, regulations and right-towork that created the jobs. It was Texans and others who created the jobs, not Rick Perry. He just did not interfere with it. He spent most of his life as a Democrat and changed parties in order to become Governor of Texas. He states he ran for Governor three times. This is not true. He got into office when Bush left to become President and then ran twice. During the last election he only obtained 38% of the vote, the rest going to Kay Hutchison and Debra Medina. Now that Herman Cain is rising in the polls, the media is trying to love him or hate him, take your pick. He has many good ideas and definitive plans, but there are certainly doubts he can salvage Amer-

The selfishness we see every time an elected official spends most of his or her term of office campaigning for re-election, often with promises that can never be fulfilled. We see it when members of congress or the President take unneccsary, expensive trips on our dollar. Corruption begins with a candidates desire for power, money and fame, all of which can be fulfilled by clinging to certain special interest groups. None of the special interest groups care anything at all about you or me. In essence they are interests of entities we call corporations. The entire ideology that considers corporations to have the same rights as human beings is an evil one. Corporations do not have souls. They were not created by God. They are not alive. They should have no rights other than to do business, i.e., raise capital in order to create a product or provide a service and sell such product or service for profit to be shared by the shareholders. They should not be protected by bankruptcy laws -- some human being(s) need to suffer from a bankruptcy of a corporation. The rest of us are not protected. When a mom-andpop donut shop goes into bankruptcy, its mom and pop who suffer very real personal consequences. No one comes to bail them out. Corporations themselves are not necessarily evil. It us how our society has come to allow them human rights that is evil. The way that corporations can hire expensive lobbyists to have their way with Congress is wrong and evil when we as individuals seem to have no voice even with our own representatives. Phone calls and letters seem to do nothing for us but waste our time. When it comes time for voting, be certain the person you are voting for is a good, righteous, God-fearing individual with no record of corruption, cronyism or self-interest superceding our own interests. Returning America to a free country requires that we as people adhere to the principals on which this nation was founded and that we elect people with these principals to public office, especially the most powerful offices. A man or woman who bends to the whims of any evil entity in order to obtain or maintain power is not the man to vote for. A person who has lived their lives as fair and just, always choosing right over wrong, one who has a known record of such, is a person for whom to cast your vote.

Isabelles Garden Tips
Isabelle has her fall garden well on its way, so she is taking a vacation this month. Her tomatoes and peppers all have blooms. The swiss chard is loving the cooler weather, and cabbages and brocolli are thriving, as are garlic chives, parsley, sage, rosemary and oregano. Isabelle says she will be back next month.

by Miss Daisy Duke go as I please. Its much cooler in there during hot afternoons, and I can get out of water from the sky if I need to. Besides, I get a closer view of strangers and cats and a much better opportunity to scare them half to death when I drag my black butt up and shine my eyes and big teeth at them, barking loudly. As Queen of the World, no one gets to tresspass in my territory, I tell you! Im obligated to work harder and harder for my delicious biscuits. My peeps make me stay longer and longer for every biscuit. Doggone it! I sometimes roll over and hope I will get it sooner by looking helpless, cute and submissive, but, NO! It doesnt work. My peeps just cant be suckered in. When they make me work so hard for my cookies it makes me want to run away from home where people will feed me human junk food just cuz Im so gorgeous and sweet, and then I can join a pack of loose street dogs. Oops! What if the pack wont let me be Queen of the World?! On a lighter side,and please excuse my whining about the biscuits, I love this cooler weather. It makes me not mind school so much. My little bird friends are back, although there are far fewer of them. I guess all the wild and loose cats got their tongue. My squirrel pals are back, too, and I love watching them swish their tails around and grab the acorns. Sometimes I try eating an acorn, but I dont think they are especially tasty, too bitter. I wonder why the sqirrels like them. Little Mom went away for a couple of days. She always lets me out in the mornings. The first morning she was gone I went to her chair near the door, but she wasnt there. I didnt know what to do, but Mom came to rescue and let me out. Whew! I hear Mom call those visits the pause that refreshes. It was nice and quiet while Little Mom was gone, but I missed her. However, I got to spend some quality time with Mom, and the quiet was refreshing. The luckiest thing in the world is that I am a homeschooled dog. I dont have to waste time in some training class with a bunch of dumb, stupid dogs who dont seem to get it or even want to get it. My daily schooling usually lasts very little time, and the rest of the time I get to explore my little world and, most importantly, play and play and play and sleep a lot. I figgered it out the other day that when the cluckers cluck, thats when they lay one of those eggs. I wonder if I bark if I will lay an egg and make Little Mom happy. Oh well, life is tough, and I dont get everything I want, but all in all, its a swell dogs life. Woof, woof to all my pals out there.

Well, friends, there was a good bit of water from the sky not too long ago, and I was able to resume my favorite activity next to eating, and thats digging. I saw some men digging to bury some long pipe through my yard, and I decided I should help out with the digging. But, the durned thing is that every time I dug something new, my peeps would fill up the hole with more dirt. I guess it was sort of a game. I dig, they fill it up and give me a chance to dig again. What fun! I am jealous of the cluckers. Little Mom goes out to their home and brings back handfuls of little sort of roundish brown things she calls eggs and looks really happy about it. How come I cant make some of those things? Then she would love me more, cuz Im a lot bigger than they are and could make much bigger ones I bet. The best thing lately is that Mom made me a secured area inside a area with no dirt or ticks or fleas. It has my very own door and I can come and

Now we have to dust, vacuum, sweep, run the dishwasher and straighten up the bathrooms. Then, once again, it is time to have your favorite beverage and take a nice break. When that is over we must make the beds and start the evening meal, where I come from we call it Dinner. After all that work it is time to go outside and sit on your favorite chair and just chill out. The outside is complete, the inside is complete, and dinner is prepped. Now you will look so lovely as the Crumb Crushers start coming home and so desirable by the time your hubby gets home. They all think you have done nothing all day long. Let them. It is how you get even. When they want something, because you have all the time in the world, just let the house go for a day or so. They will catch on real soon. I know that to be true. Then enlist your hubby and kids to help on the weekend and catch up. You are the director. You let them clean the windows the old way. You let them sort out the laundry. You let them wash dishes by hand. You let them make the bed. You let them pick up the things that are on the floor. Oh yes, by all means you let them vacuum. They wont think of you the same anymore. You are one busy lady, and they will start telling everyone they do not know how you do it. Watch and see! Now that Thanksgiving is over, we will start preparing for Christmas. Well, what a surprise, you know, all this wonderful weather just in time for the major holidays. We just left Halloween, but in some places the wicked witch would not let the kids play. What is going on? No Thanksgiving or Christmas? I think not! So, it is time to make your favorite beverage of choice and prepare yourself for a day full of joy! Down here in South Texas we laugh, play, scream, run and do all the things that make for very happy people! However, get out your turkey day dishes and display stuff cause we need to get it all cleaned up. Actually, if we did put it up last year it should be pretty easy to prepare for this Thanksgiving. If you are having everyone come to your home for turkey day, I have a few ideas for you. First, even if you use a dishwasher, cleaning up is a lot of work. So except for the honored guest grandparents, and/or parents, use a highly decorated paper plate that is water proof. If your parents are like mine were they would prefer a paper plate. Use high quality plastic forks. Bake in disposable pans, use disposable cups, glasses, table cloth, and anything else you just throw away when it is all over. YOU deserve to have fun too! So really go look at those party stores that have that stuff. You can even order over the internet. Then everyone will have a great time which includes you. Maybe you and your hubby could even go to a movie after everyone leaves. Hummm, why not? If you want all the work, go ahead get out your heavy pots and pans and all the dishes, etc. You have a lot of work ahead of you. And remember you need to complete the outside decorations for Thanksgiving. Today I encourage you to clean the windows. You lucky ones who put the liquid car wax on your outside windows, get out the water hose and just rinse and maybe on one of the windows use a squeegee. How much easier can life get. The Republican leaders have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at Ron Paul to try to stop him. They tried to talk Chris Christie, the popular conservative governor of New Jersey, into running and for a while they were focused on Rick Perry until his big government past came back to haunt him. Now suddenly Herman Cain is becoming a front-runner, though he was dismissed even in the recent past as an unserious candidate. His "9-9-9" plan has galvanized public attention, perhaps because it is easily assimilated. "Nine percent corporate business flat tax, 9 percent personal income flat tax, and a 9 percent national sales tax," Cain explained. It sounds reasonable until one realizes that Cain is actually proposing ANOTHER tax. What sane person would believe that the US federal government would be content with these rates for long? Eventually, they would be subject to tax creep; the country would end up with higher rates AND a "national sales tax." Ron Paul, on the other hand, has released a detailed plan of his own that focuses on cutting, not adding. The small-government congressman is also willing to live with a vastly reduced salary if he gets into the White House. Its Your Life, Your Money, Your Freedom

by V. J. Alford There are always temptations in the world, and one of them is that once you have followed your plan to get out of debt, it is tempting to use your new good credit line. Do not do it. Take a look at your pocketbook. Doesnt it feel good to have money in it that may not have been there before you paid off your debts? Look in your pocket. Doesnt it feel good to have some cash in there? I was watching a webcast the other day where the host of the show was telling the audience that bad times are coming in the economic world and that it will be accompanied by much social unrest. The Wall Street occupiers are just a sampling of may lay in store. Most of those unkempt people do not even know why they are doing what they are doing. They are simply angry. Right now in this country, there are certainly many angry people, those who have lost jobs, for example. There are seniors worried about their social security checks and medicare benefits, and there are investors worried about losing their wealth. Living with anger and worry is unproductive. Instead of being angry and worried, plan for emergencies and disaster. Here are the suggestions for steps this talk-show host suggested that everyone take in order to survive his projected economic/social disaster. Whether or not such a disaster comes our way, it occurs to me that these are proper steps to take even in the event of a hurricane or other unforeseen natural disaster. First he suggests you stock gold (or silver if you cannot afford gold), food (non-persihable), cigarettes, liquor, seeds, guns and ammo. You may not smoke or drink alcohol, but cigarettes and liquor will be valuable barter items if there is little or no cash available. He further says that you should have enough cash on hand to last for 30 days. If that is not possible, even a few days is better than no cash at all. (This is largely in case ATMs do not work for a period of time, such as during Katrina.) Other suggestestions are: Do not waste anything. Stop all excess spending (luxury spending). Buy durable, high quality and fixable items rather that which is fasshionable or a fad. If possible, buy a house in a rural area with water on it. Buy or hold onto your guns. You may need them to protect your property. Of course, everyone in his right mind hopes no distaster of any kind will happen to any of us. On the other hand, there are many well-known economists and politics watchers who believe economic disaster could happen at any time, depending partly on what happens to the economies in Europe. Additionally, as long as the Federal Reserve keeps on printing dollars with nothing but debt supporting them, we will assuredly have a great deal of inflation. We are seeing it at the grocery store now, and it will get worse. We may feel better about the price of gas since it has trended down lately, but we are still paying far more than we were in 2008. It takes a huge chunk of money just to run a car or truck. When it comes to the suggestion Do not waste anything, one of the ways you can save a lot of money by not wasting gas is to carefully plan your trips. For example, if I have to go to a Gargantua store 30 miles away for a particular item, I combine with that trip perhaps getting an oil change, a stop at a nearby liquor store, any items I need from a nearby hardware or lumber store, a specialty grocery item I cannot get locally, do the banking, go to the post office, and so on. Another example, if someone in your household has a dental appointment, drop that person off at the dentist while you run around the area picking up your shopping needs. In other words, dont make three or four trips to town when one will do Save leftover food and either reheat it or disguise it as part of another dish. Growing up during WWII, my mother would fix a pot of beans one night. The next night she might fix a small amount of chili and add the leftover beans. If you cook a piece of meat that turns out to be too tough to eat, refrigerate it and then grind it to make meat sandwiches. When it comes to guns, if feasible, have all the household shotguns use the same size shell. If you already have a 9mm semi-auto pistol and need another pistol in the household, buy another 9mm. It gets expensive quickly to buy several differents kinds of ammo. On the other hand, if you are someone who is dead set against using firearms for any reason, buy ammo anyway to use a barter item. I have spoken in this column before about buying non-GMO seeds and growing a garden. Seeds you cannot use and more food than you can use will also become great barter items. Lastly, get out your yellow tablet and write down all of your handi-person skills, everything from being able to fix a leaky toilet to being able to weld or build a house. Those will become highly prized skills which you might be able to use in trade for food, water and other necessities of life. Most important of all, trust in God and pray.

Tips to Better Photos

tail fin. I got a great shot of Eric petting her dorsal fin as it glided by him. The baby cautiously swam on the opposite side of it's mother, keeping her huge body between us. They circled around us a few times and as they swam we could easily see by the way the mother tilted her head that she was carefully observing us and was quite interested in us. She suddenly turned and headed directly at the middle of our canoe and dove slightly as she went under us. I just managed to get my camera back in it's waterproof case as she slipped under us. Once beneath us she came to a stop and immediately began bouncing the canoe. We both held tight to the sides of our small craft as the much larger animal bounced us upward over and over. After several bounces though, we relaxed realizing that this amazing creature was only playing with us and was so intelligent that she knew just how much she could jostle us without tipping us over or throwing us out. I know this to be true because over the week we camped on the island, we went out on the water each day and several different whales played with us in just this way. I got to be so sure of them knowing just what they were doing that I soon stopped putting my camera away as they played with us. Another wonderful experience with the whales involved one of the tour participants. His name was Paul Corbin and he was a professional violinist. Several of us went out on the lagoon one evening and Paul brought his violin. One of us put a long metal pole from one of the tents into the water as Paul held his violin against it to make a simple hydrophone

With last month's article I left off describing my photo-assignment to Baja talking about our first night camped on the uninhabited island of Isla Magdelana. After having such an amazing encounter with the whales swimming beside me as I strolled along the shore, break of day found me eager to head out into the lagoon with my cameras. When I did slip out of my sleeping bag and out from under the tarp I was sleeping under, I found the island enveloped in fog so thick that I could barely see the tents that made up the rest of camp even though they were only a few feet away. As our week on the island passed I found out that these conditions were quite normal for Isla Magdelana. I've always loved photographing in early morning fog and I made sure to be up each morning at first light so that I could explore the island before the rising sun had a chance to burn the fog away. Eric, who was one of the two tour leaders and I were soon out into the lagoon in the canoe. We paddled toward the nearest grey whale we could spot and stopped a couple of hundred feet from where she floated on the surface. Her baby, much smaller than mom, but still quite a size for anything considered a baby, swam in circles staying within a few feet of the safety of the mother. We waited quietly and patiently hoping curiosity would bring them closer and sure enough after 20 minutes or so, mom with baby in tow began swimming toward us. As I shot pictures she soon was so close I had to exchange my telephoto lens for a wider angle. As she reached our canoe, she turned abruptly at an angle where she could rub her body against the side of our canoe, starting with her nose and ending with her

Amazingly we soon had a couple of the adult whales circling the fishing boat we were in and they were soon spinning in the water obviously responding to the music in a beautiful dance. I'll never forget how all of us in the boat were absolutely amazed by the beauty and intelligence of these amazing animals.

TURF [Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom] Celebrating Victory

(AUSTIN, TEXAS - October 16, 2011) - For the first time since the 80th legislative session in 2007, all the grassroots groups that took on Texas Governor Rick Perry to stop the Trans Texas Corridor (TTC) and place a moratorium on public private partnerships (or P3s) gathered at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, Saturday, October 15, to celebrate their collective victory in finally achieving the complete repeal of the Trans Texas Corridor from state statute (Kolkhorst's HB 1201 was signed into law June 17, 2011). Several current and former state representatives gave emotional acceptance speeches saying they were "honored" to received awards at TURF's 'Stars of Texas' award luncheon. The event recognized and celebrated the work of Texas State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst and former State Rep. David Leibowitz to repeal the Trans Texas Corridor (TTC), former State Rep. Jim Dunnam and Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson's efforts to keep tolls off existing roadways and stop the sale of Texas roads to private corporations, and Rep. David Simpson's work to rein-in invasive searches by the TSA that impede freedom to travel. 2011 Stars of Texas (left to right) Commissioner Tommy Adkisson, Rep. David Leibowitz, Rep. The piein-the-sky, 4,000-mile, 1,200 foot wide network of toll roads, rail, utilities, telecommunications, etc. that would confiscate 580,000 acres and displace 1 million Texans on TTC-35 alone is DEAD. However, in SB 1420, 14 Texas road projects remain eligible for P3s that will cost urban commuters dearly, 75 cents per mile, and still pose sovereignty, eminent domain, and monopoly concerns. Terri Hall, Founder of Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF) noted, "So taking a line from the movie Princess Bride, the Trans Texas Corridor is 'mostly dead.' Regardless of the final status, the TTC has been officially repealed, which is cause for our celebration today. We put the proponents in serious retreat, yet we will remain vigilant." Hall pointed out that by its own admission, the highway department (TxDOT) plans to breakup the TTC in smaller pieces and do the project using the original road or loop name like, SH 130, and Loop 9 around DFW. However, the size and scale will be greatly diminished, which Hall thinks is a tremendous victory for property rights and Texas landowners. Kolkhorst teared up as she listened to Hall recount the stories that lead up to the repeal of the TTC. As she accepted her award she remarked, "How could we even think of selling off our infrastructure to foreign companies? Shame on us, shame on us for thinking about it. I will fight any Republican, any Democrat, anyone who wants to take our state from us." "I don't know how you did it. November 2011 Banking Continued from Page 4 issue currency and credit to the United States. It was to be nine days of drafting what would eventually become the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. The secrecy surrounding the trip to Jekyll Island went to such lengths as to not use last names so no one would be identified. The regular servants who worked at the resort were sent on leave and new servants were brought in to accommodate The First Name Club, as they would later refer to themselves. Paul Warburg, whose family had ties with the Rothschilds through marriage, drafted the majority of the bill. Warburg was the most experienced in banking of the secretive group. Senator Aldrich was to insure that the plan was written in a way that would get passed by Congress. And the others looked over the plan to insure that everything which was wanted was included in the draft. One of the most ingenious pieces of the plan was to avoid the name central bank. The idea was to deceive the public into believing that the new bank would be controlled by the government, thus the bank would be named the Federal Reserve. With the plan to set up a central bank complete, The First Name Club returned to New York to begin to promote the Aldrich Plan. Woodrow Wilson was recruited as a spokesman for the propaganda born on the island. The plan would enter Congress as the result of a three year study done by the NMC (the three year study yielded thirty colossal volumes on European banking.) In a Committee on Rules hearing in late 1911, Congressman Charles A. Lindbergh, accused the Aldrich plan as being in the exclusive interest of the Money Trust rather the People. The Aldrich Plan is the Wall Street Plan, claimed the Congressman. Democratic Congressman Carter Glass viewed the Aldrich Plan as a means of setting up a private central bank which would not have any public control. Unfortunately Glass proposal of the Federal Reserve Act would set up the epitome of a private central bank with a monopoly over the currency and credit of the United States. The Aldrich Plan never came to a vote in Congress. During the Presidential election of 1912 both parties promoted bills featuring monetary reform. The Republicans supported the Aldrich Plan while the Democrats promoted the Federal Reserve Act; however both bills were practically identical in nature. Republican ex-president Theodore Roosevelt entered the race late as a third-party candidate and siphoned Republican votes which led to Woodrow Wilson winning the presidency. The results of the election did not matter to the bankers because each candidate was backed by them. The Republican candidate William Taft was supported by Felix Warburg (brother of Paul Warburg); Democrat Woodrow Wilson was backed by Paul Warburg, and third party candidate Roosevelt was supported by Otto Kahn. Each one of these supporters were all from Kuhn Loeb Company. On September 18, 1913 the house version of the Federal Reserve Act was passed and on December 19, 1913 the Senate passed their version of the bill; however there were more than forty major differences between the two versions to be settled. Challengers of the bill in both the House and the Senate were beguiled into believing it would take many weeks before the Conference bill would be up for consideration. With Congress preparing to leave for the Christmas recess, Paul Warburg acted quickly and in a single day settled the differences in the bill. On December 22, 1913 around 1:30 a.m., the bill was passed by the House with 282-60 and the Senate with 43-23. In the early months of 1913 two amendments to the Constitution were ratified helping the Federal Reserve secure its grip on the American people. Though there has been much controversy over whether the 16th Amendment was properly ratified, it is this amendment that is said to have delivered us the income tax along with the IRS. It may not come as a surprise that it was Senator Nelson Aldrich who introduced Senate Joint Resolution No. 40 calling for the amendment. Many argue that the 16th amendment is unconstitutional which conflicts with Article 1, Section 9, Clause 4 which states, No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken. The 16th amendment simply allows a direct tax without regard to the census or enumeration. Whether you believe the 16th amendment is unconstitutional or was not properly ratified does not matter due to the fact that the income tax is classified as an excise tax (indirect tax) and is used in the taxation of commerce which Congress is given the exclusive right to govern under Article 1 Section 8 Clause 3. The Collins English Dictionary defines commerce as the activity embracing all forms of the purchase and sell of goods and services. In the U.S. the activity of selling and buying is facilitated via Federal Reserve Notes (FRN) and FRNs are a product of the Federal Reserve, therefore, because we use the product of a corporation we are accountable for the tax for the use of the product (FRNs.) On May 31, 1913 Secretary of State Williams Jennings Bryan signed the proclamation declaring the 17th amendment ratified. The 17th amendment took the power from State legislatures to appoint U.S. Senators for their respective States. Bryan believed this was the answer to free the Senate from the control of corrupt state legislatures. The U.S. Senate would thereon be elected directly by the people rather than the state legislatures. This is important to the Federal Reserve since the Federal Reserve board is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. I believe that Bryans efforts were sincere in routing out corruption in Congress but had unforeseen consequences. Rather than having to pay-off State legislatures to appoint an individual to the U.S. Senate for the interest of the banks, the 17th amendment simply cut out the middle man. The 17th amendment is a major factor in the detrition of States Rights because States are no longer properly represented in Washington. This has been the essential factor in the aggregation of wealth for the banking elite. Dobie Dichos: Campfires, Chili con Carne, and The Words of J. Frank Dobie will feature 4 top Texas storytellers and 6 renowned Texas authors telling and reading stories from the works of J. He writes that even if Ron Paul doesn't win the nomination, "his constitutional conservative beliefs have already won him something far more valuable and long lasting: changing the discourse in American politics." Ron Paul's announcement about cutting executive departments is yet another example of the kind of libertarian solutions that the Republican powers-that-be have trouble dealing with. Every time Ron Paul introduces these sorts of concepts, another public discussion begins about the nature of the US Leviathan and its appropriate role. Ron Paul's lasting effect may be his singular success in challenging the role of the American empire and its legitimacy. Using the power of the Internet helping enable what we call the Internet Reformation Ron Paul will surely be remembered as a significant "change-maker." The proposal would create yet another government entity with the power to levy a property tax. Cities and counties already have the ability to fund parks and recreational facilities and to incur debt with the approval of local citizens. Creating special purpose districts such as this one further complicates local government and hampers the ability of citizens to understand their associated tax burdens.
