7 Muharram 1432 Dec 3, 2011 Aboo Iyaad @ Masjidul-Furaqaan Toronto via Telelink Explanation of Tree of Faith by Shaykh Abdur-Rahmaan

b. Nasir as-Sadee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd_ar-Rahman_ibn_Nasir_as-Sa%27di link to bio ANALOGY IN THE QURAAN The analogy in the Quraan used to describe the mumin (believer) is that of a firmly rooted tree. Mentions that Allaah is the One who fixes this tree of faith into the hearts of his servants and waters and nurtures it with fruitful 3lm o This tree is the kalima laa illaaha illa allaah Studies in eeman are from the greatest aspects of the deen to be studied The Quraan and Sunnah are sufficient for the information and clarification of this eemaan.

PARTS OF THE BOOK 1) What is eeman? 2) What are the things from which eemaan extends or comes out of? 3) Benefits and fruits of eeman PART 1 Surah Ibraheem 14 24. See you not how Allah sets forth a parable? - A goodly word as a goodly tree, [laa illaaha illa allaah] whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high). 25. Giving its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember. This is the kalima of eemaan the shahaadah Fruits never cease to be found This extension of this tree will vary in every believer Roots belief, Extension actions, Fruits beneficial actions

WHAT IS EEMAAN? Shaykh states that one must have a clear definition of eemaan or cannot properly understand and will fall into faulty understandings The sects erred in their definition of eemaan which led to the eeman in their hearts being defective Confusion about eemaan & kufr and what defines them

Having firm and resolute belief and complete and perfect acknowledgement in the heart of everything that Allaah and His Messenger salla allaahu alayhi wa sallam ordered you to believe in o Inward and outward compliance Once belief is in the heart it creates feeling of fear and hope Actions of the limbs occur when there are not barriers, i.e. arrogance. Actions of the limbs are integral to eemaan o The heart is the king of the limbs It is the nature of this 3lm (of eemaan) to produce these emotions of hope and fear and their subsequent actions Not the case for dunya (worldly) knowledge since it is only beneficial for a particular aim or objective of that particular knowledge o E.g. medical knowledge for practicing medicine

Therefore Eeman is speech of the heart, tongue and likewise the action of the heart, tongue and the action of the limbs. This surmises (makes up) the entire religion. Everything in the deen goes into eeman EVERYTHING IN THE DEEN

EEMAAN

Articles of Eemaan

Belief in Asmaa was Sifaat

Eemaan becomes strong with obedience and weak with disobedience o Increases and decreases o Eeman is belief, speech and actions

Surah Fath 48

4. He it is Who sent down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquility) into the hearts of the believers, that they may grow more in Faith along with their (present) Faith. And to Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise. Surah Taubah 9 124. And whenever there comes down a Surah (chapter from the Qur'an), some of them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith, and they rejoice. Three ways of observation o Shareeah (Quraan was-Sunnah) o Sensory (hearing, seeing) o Actual reality of situations CATEGORIES OF BELIEVERS
THOSE WHO WRONG THEMSELVES Fall short of wajibaat Fall into the haraam BALANCED Fulfill all obligations Stay away from haraam FOREMOST IN GOOD DEEDS Fulfill wajibaat Fulfill mustahabb Do nawafila ebaadah Stay away from haraam

YAQEEN CERTAINTY The anbiya (prophets) actively sought yaqeen in eemaan An example is Ibraheem

Surah Baqarah 260. And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, "My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead." He (Allah) said: "Do you not believe?" He [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Yes (I believe), but to be stronger in Faith." () Likewise the companions of Eesa bin Maryam asked to have a table sent down from Jannah

Surah Maidah (Table Spread Out) 5 112. (Remember) when Al-Hawariun (the disciples) said: "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Can your Lord send down to us a table spread (with food) from heaven?" 'Iesa (Jesus) said: "Fear Allah, if you are indeed believers." 113. They said: "We wish to eat thereof and to be stronger in Faith, and to know that you have indeed told us the truth and that we ourselves be its witnesses."
