 Paul Norton

is training to become anelectrician with Train4TradeSkills.Train4TradeSkills Radio spoke to Paul tofind out how his electrical course is going:So Paul, what were you doing before Train4TradeSkills?
I am a computer programmer for a software company in Summerset. We currently do medical imagingfor the NHS and as we all know, the NHS is becoming a little bit dubious with the government changingthings, so I was looking to change my career.
How did you find out about Train4TradeSkills?
I found them on Facebook; I submitted my application and soon after they called me back to register forthe course.
How are you finding the training with Train4TradeSkills?
The training has been really good. The tutors are very friendly and pleasant. Sometimes cracking the old jokes to keep us interested.
Have you always been interested in electrics?
I always enjoyed it at school and I used to work with my dad as a mechanic. However, I got fed up withgetting wet and cold because he was a mobile mechanic; we did recoveries and things like that. So I went
for the desk job which was nice but it just wasn’t for me. I have been
trapped indoors for 11 years nowand want to make a change in my career.
What have you enjoyed most from the practical training?
Getting hands on and putting some of the theory into practice.
What drove you to change careers?
I think the idea of being in charge of your own destiny. I was a company man for 21 years and then oneday out of the blue everything was taken away from me. I have been there since I left college. Yes, Iwould say to everyone, get out there and just do it; make a change.
What is your plan for the future after you finish your course?
My real end game is to become fully qualified and start my own business with my other friends who arein the trade business too.You can listen to Paul
