There is an enormous amount of energy directed at a woman's right to choice. Yet how much energy is directed toward the childrens that are suffering in this world. Is it equal? I think not. God Bless the suffering children.

You better I'm afraid of a man that no one knows anything about, who not only believes in abortion, but Socialism, and 'taxing' (stealing from people who have worked hard and made it, to give to people who are drug addicts, dope dealers and women who make a living having one baby after another!!! That's not my idea of a leader, that my friend is the way of rulers and dictators. We have no way of knowing who has financed this creep, and the company he keeps should be a very red flag. I have been a CATHOLIC all my life and I have NEVER heard a priest use God's name in vain!!!
And you call your self a Christian, what kind of church do you go too???

It is really sad that you are so afraid, or, whatever. From the prophecy courses that I've taken, the anti-christ will rise from the European Union-the first 10 nations that formed the European Union, and that person will be of Jewish decent, and unmarried.

The fear mongering that has taken place over the past eight years is very toxic and damaging. As Christians, we need to pray for our leaders.

Dear RIVMINC4289--I will definitely check that out, thanks. I just want to be clear that I don't agree that the Church itself has made abortion its single issue. Faithful Citizenship gives one of the most beautiful, comprehensive guideposts to Catholic political life, and it is the model of a lot of my thinking on this stuff. I just like to caution people who focus only on a narrow vision of our commitment to pro-life. Pro-life isn't just a single legislative issue. It's a lived thing, that we have to propogate in every factor of our lives. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to make that clear. And thank you for the references. I will check them out. Thanks!

TO poster named AS0000: I encourage you to visist renewalministriesdotnet and listen to the shows from this election week because then you shall hopefully be enlightened to the single issue myth. It is not about a single issue. It is foundational. If you listen carefully, and maybe listen to each segment twice, maybe then things will become clear to you. Each show is 14 and a half minutes long. I liken it to a good homily. Enjoy!

To everybody who claims that fighting wars is anti-catholic and worse than abortions because people die in wars.
When evil approaches us, we either have to fight it or succumb to it, and unfotunately this is why many times, wars have to be fought in order to not let evil take over us. Even Jesus did this during his life. Do you all remember when he entered the temple that was plagued with sinners and people adoring idols, and he got upset and started turning over tables, throwing on the floor all the pagan objecs, and kicking all of them out of the temple? That was a war against evil. The Bible also talks about Sodom and Gamorrah where God destroys both places because most people there were sinners, and only a few good men, who followed God's instructions were saved. That was a major war against evil!!! Whoever wants freedom, and to get away from evil, needs to fight for it. Like Ronald Reagan once said: Freedom is not passed to your children through the bloodstream it has to be obtained!!! Also, in this country, the people that go to war, voluntarily do so, knowing that they could die, and they choose to do so, if needs be, just to defend the honor of their country. When somebody has an abortion, the life that is inside that person, does not have a choice, and is not dying to defend anything!!!
In respect to voting during this election, and blaming Bush for everything "bad" happening in this country, do not forget that during the past 4 years, the majority of the Congress has been democrats, and the President many times could not act for the benefit of this country, because the Congress would not pass his proposed laws. Furthermore, Obama, was part of that Congress, and upon review of his records you will see that during the time he was a senator, he did absolutely NOTHING to better our country. It is really a cope out to say, that many people may not vote for him, just because of racism. STOP, THINK & ANALYZE, & hopefully the majority of the people of AMERICA WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM because he is NOT the best candidate for this great country. Racism has nothing to do with it. Obama IS INEXPERIENCED, has NOT DONE ANYTHING FOR THIS COUNTRY DURING THE TIME HE HAS BEEN A SENATOR, HAS EXTREMELY LIBERAL VIEWS THAT WILL MOST LIKELY HURT US, & has tight relationships with dubious, influential, rich people that most likely are the ones that helped him rise out of nowhere in less than a year. Furthermore, he will increase all of our taxes, as this is the only way he will be able to raise money to pay for all the proposed programs he wants to implement at this time when the country does not even have money to support all the programs that already exist!!! Such increase of taxes will lead us to economic disaster. So, people, come out from under the spell he has casted over millions by using his charms, good looks, intelligence and money, and realize that he talks about change, but many of you, when asked, do not even know w...

This is to Lizzybear and all of those reading this who proclaim to be "Catholic". You must be joking????? did you not read my post...are you kidding me?????
One Billion (or more) souls murdered for convenience sake and you talk about health care and wars(most of which were fought to save lives)! Let me say it again....your own salvation is at stake...there is no proportionate reason (as taught by the Catholic Church) to vote for a pro-death candidate!! Your hands are bloodied with this mortal sin--quit fooling yourselves!!
Go to EWTN.com and click on their "Guide to Catholic Teaching and Voting" and prayerfully read/study and hopefully you will see the light.

If this still does not convince you then be prepared to meet all of these babies when you meet your maker and you are asked "why did you help murder my children????"

I understand that everyone has their reasons for whom they are voting for. I think in this election that it is impossible to say that there is one specific candidate who is the "Catholic Vote." It would be a shame, I think, if Catholicism let itself be defined by a single issue. Abortion is a tragedy. I am pro-Life and if I ever found a truly Pro-Life candidate, I would certainly vote for that person. But there is no pro-Life candidate. While some will quietly let unborn babies die, others will quietly or not so quietly continue to let young people die in unjust wars. Everyone talks about the appointment of judges and the future of Roe v. Wade, but nobody talks about the future of capital punishment, when right now a young black man Troy Davis, sentenced to death in a sham of a trial, based solely on witness testimony where all but two have recanted, --a man who is not only NOT guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but is more than likely innocent, this man has been on death row, living with the anxiety that any day, they might again refuse his appeal and go through with his execution. A culture of life to me is one that supports and sustains life. It's not just about shutting out the option of death to mothers who are unable to see the gift of the life inside of them and who would reject it, but about opening doors to them, to see the hope in the possibilities of life. It's one that sustains life in all the issues. Health-care is a pro-life issue, because, of course, how can you maintain your life when you can't afford to treat your illnesses. Foreign policy is a pro-life issue because where there is war, violence, no peace, where my brother across the globe finds his life in jeopardy, my life, too, is in jeopardy, because we have to believe that we are all bound up in each other. That's what it means to be one body in Christ. The economy is an important pro-life issue, because where people lose their jobs, find themselves in debt, lose their homes, even end up on the street, they lose hope in life. Hope in the possibilities of life is exactly what a culture of life seeks tirelessly to foster. It isn't about a single issue. They are all important. And you have to figure out for yourself the candidate who you believe has the most comprehensive participation in building the culture of life. None of them have it perfectly. Most of all, I think a culture of life is a culture of love, one of brotherhood, without divisions, without judgment, open to listen to each other and to understand, where we each support each other. If think if we did that consistently even in the little things, we'd see less of the grand entrances of the culture of death. So anyway, my point is that ultimately, the Catholic choice is not in the person you vote for. Well, neither of them is Catholic. It's in you. In the issues you support and advocate for, and in the life you lead, supporting life and love consistently in all the little things.

Do you want to elect the people that can appoint and confirm judges that will uphold life, or do you want to elect those who can appoint and confirm the anti life judges, to continue to seal the fate of thousands of babies?

My Lord please forgive me as I set aside moral issues that are crucial to human kind - pro life and gay rights(which McCain is right) and ponder Obama's views on our economy,the war,and health care.Each of these guys have their good and bad points. My God bless our next president and our nation that in deed was founded on christianity. The bible says the anti-christ will be crismatic, so be careful. I am still undecided.YbiC.

Nobody likes abortion. And, like Herm says about all that voted for bush, that voted for him on this one talking point, which by the way, I think makes everyone that voted for bush responsible for a war based on lies, his twisting of the constitution.... The abortion issue should be taken off the presidential ballot, for that one talking point, when so many other issues are very important too, is societal suicide. As a Believing Christian, I can't support lies like what the bush camp, and now worse, the mcsame/palin camp offer. They are hate mongering racists against people that our God created. If all of those, including yourself, Bob, voted for bush because you thought that he was prolife, and he has had 6/8 years of GOP control of the three branches of U.S. Government, why haven't they overturned Roe V. Wade? I'll tell you why, because they are liars that play on good people's consciences. They are never going to turn the table on Roe V. Wade. They use it as a political play. That's rotton and horrible and they will rot in hell for doing so. Now let's look at all the other pro life issues, war based on lies, innocents killed for lies, pure lies for money, now my Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. Get the picture. It's time to call the shots and Obama is the best, most moral and truthful candidate that this country has seen in a very very long time.

50 milliom innocent babies in the US and over 1 billion innocent babies worldwide murdered in just the last 45 years!!!..wars...are you kidding me?????-all the wars in the last 20 centuries have taken a tiny,tiny,tiny,tiny,tiny, tiny,tiny fraction of the # of lives as abortion....many wars have actually saved lives in the long run by stopping evil!

The single greatest evil in the world is the murder of abortion! God made the choice of life---not us! WE have the choice of having babies(regardless of the circumstances) or gifting them to loving and willing adoptive parents. Death is the choice of Satan, not God! Have compassion on these mothers--no one should have to go through the living hell of abortion!
You will meet your maker Herm along with many like Barack Obama who have been deceived by the great deceiver. I wish you well in trying to explain your position to your Creator--I do not believe He will take kindly to directly supporting the murder of souls He created. It is His choice, not ours!!

No, not from the messages of Hate/racism. So I am TUNING OUT your messages of HATRED while you proclaim to be my brothers and sisters through Christ. Real Christians doesn't support hatred and/or racism! It amazes me to read messages from my brothers and sisters confessing to be Christians when the majority of you elected the ignoramus in the White House now. Enough of your non-sense and your ignorant messages of insanity!
Proclaiming to be PRO-Life Christians when young men and women are being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. War veteran being treated as second class citizens, when treated for their injuries in our V. A. Hospitals. Young and Old are homeless can't afford medical care and without food or water in this country. Brothers and Sisters including babies in other parts of this world are sick and starving from malnutrition. If you are PRO-LIFE. Then start advocating for these people!

No you would rather advocate to one another Hatred/Racism through written expressions of FEAR/ANGER/VIOLENCE that a Black Man is or isn't trustworthy or qualified in your insane little mind to become President of our nation! (This is what the hypocrites do.)
